Pleasant hotel, bar and restaurant

Liked: Great bar. Good restaurant. Public areas were all very pleasant. The spa looked good value, although I didn't use it.
Disliked: Needed better curtains to keep the sunlight out. No bath.

Liked: The staff were nice
Disliked: Everything was a disappointment..the room didnt look anything like the pictures. Was incredibly dated and small. The bed was a small double and really uncomfortable. Room was boiling when we went in. Carpets were frayed. Stains on the duvet cover. Just all in all extremely disappointed. I think its because room 24 didnt reflect the pictures which was the issue. There was damp on the wall and the paint was chipped

Happy with our one night...

Liked: We had a dog friendly room at the side of the main hotel. The room was clean & comfortable. All the staff were friendly, and knowledgeable. Evening meal was nice, and the breakfast was really good. At the back of the Hotel is a dog friendly field, which led to a local walk. Lovely beer garden around the back.
Disliked: The hotel in general could do with a refresh. I didn't see inside the hotel rooms, but our room in the side building although clean could do with updating, this room would also benefit from a blackout blind in the bedroom, to block the outside lighting directly opposite.

Perfect place to stop over...

Liked: Perfect location for a stopover on the way to the Lake District. Lovely welcome and room was quiet as requested. It overlooked a beautiful garden and fields with sheep and lambs grazing which was fabulous. The bed was comfy and we slept well.Breakfast was excellent and so nicely served by the lovely waitress on duty.
Disliked: Could not fault a thing.

Liked: The receptionist was very friendly. The reception area was welcoming
Disliked: I was sent to two rooms with all my bags which were not made up from the night before on the second floor and I had to return to reception, eventually I was shown to a room which was prepared however it looked like I had been downgraded, there were no normal tea bags, there was no shampoo in the bathroom.
