Liked: Staff all very friendly and tried to help
Disliked: The A/C didn’t work and the rooms were boiling. I was invited to choose between 2 types of rooms, equally very very hot, literally like being in a sauna. The hotel confirmed that their A/C system wasn’t working. This during a heat wave in London. In a 5 star hotel ….

Liked: The location! We chose this hotel because of it's location, just a couple of minutes from the Barbican Centre where we were attending my son's graduation in the morning. With an elderly relative and a pregnant one we really didn't want to be too far. So decided to spend more money than we would normally have spent. We were also aware this was central London, so expectations were not very high. There's a lift and staff were very friendly and helpful when we were checking out, helping with luggage and even giving our elderly relative a bottle of prosecco for the graduation!
Disliked: We got a message on the day of our booking that suggested the hotel was saying goodbye to us. I was anxious all morning whilst also working, sending them a message via booking with no reply, then trying to call their reservation line - on hold for 30min. Eventually got through on a different number and had reservation confirmed. The check in felt stressful. There was live piano music going on in the lobby, lovely at a different time, but made it difficult to hear what staff was saying. Staff seemed friendly but not particularly helpful. The one who accompanied my son and his grandmother to their bedrooms also apparently walked very fast ahead of them. The single bedrooms were in a different part of the hotel. The beds were not particularly comfortable, perhaps too soft for some people, and of different heights, one of the single ones was quite high which was a concern with my mother in law.The various toiletries in the bathroom were there, but all seemed of very poor quality. The breakfast was again fairly abundant but again, not of good quality. I wanted a fried egg and the first staff I asked seemed a bit lost, the second still sounded like he was going to have to enquire about the possibility. The person checking us in for breakfast also seemed less than friendly especially as she struggled to find some names on the guest list... not really apologetic later either, despite that being their own mistake.
