The Spotlight on The Maritime Hotel

Stylish Chelsea Stay with a Nautical Twist

Modern and full of character, The Maritime Hotel brings coastal cool to the heart of Manhattan's vibrant Chelsea neighborhood. With its distinctive porthole windows, dark wood furnishings, and sleek marble bathrooms, this boutique hotel offers a unique vibe just across from Chelsea Market and near the High Line. You're also within easy walking distance of major concert venues and nightlife hotspots.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything, and The Maritime delivers. You're steps from multiple subway lines and close to Chelsea Piers and West Village venues — perfect for catching a show without the stress. Rooms are surprisingly quiet for NYC, helping you wind down after a loud night. With 12 PM checkout, you can sleep in after an encore or two.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends – Shareable rooms and close proximity to nightlife make it ideal.
  • Solo travelers – Safe area, concierge services, and easy transport options.
  • Couples – Romantic, stylish rooms with a cozy, boutique feel.
  • Fans looking to decompress – Quiet rooms with spa-like bathrooms offer a great recovery retreat.
  • Budget-conscious music fans – While not the cheapest, the perks and location give excellent value for money in Manhattan.

Food and Drink Options

On-site dining shines at CATCH STEAK, a lively modern steakhouse with globally inspired dishes and a fun, social vibe — great for pre-show dinners or late-night bites. While room service isn't 24/7, the location is unbeatable with tons of late-night eats just steps away at Chelsea Market. Breakfast is available for slow mornings after a big night out.

Nightlife Options

You're in the thick of it. From rooftop lounges to intimate jazz clubs, you’re near some of NYC’s best nightlife. Head into the Meatpacking District or West Village for clubs, speakeasies, and bars pouring local craft cocktails. Prefer to stay in? CATCH STEAK’s bar scene is buzzing, especially on weekends.

What People Say

Guests rave about the chic design and unique nautical theme, plus the hotel’s prime location for walking to food, music, and art. The staff is frequently praised for their friendliness and helpful tips, and the rooms are described as clean, cozy, and quiet — a rare combo in NYC.

Areas for Improvement

Some visitors note that rooms are a bit compact due to the boutique style, and the porthole window (while charming) offers limited natural light. But if you're out most of the night, you might not even notice.

The Bottom Line

A stylish, well-located hotel with personality — The Maritime Hotel is a top pick for concert-goers looking to stay close to the action without sacrificing comfort.

replaces the run-down snooty standard...

Liked: the rooms are clean and relatively comfortable. the bathroom was very clean…no grime on the tile that even the best hotels seem to have. there’s complementary coffee downstairs starting at 6 …a rarity now for most hotels. my room was relatively quiet though the hotel was not full at all. the ac worked and was quiet. the continental breakfast area is large and it’s not bad but don’t expect anything gourmet. the minibar is well stocked and shockingly, refilled promptly. this is not a cheap hotel. it it is a less costly option than those nearby and in many ways better.
Disliked: the maritime theme is reinforced by extensive wood paneling in the room, which made it dark and on a rainy cloudy day, is a bit depressing. the tv is small. it’s a bit of a gritty walk to coffee shops and restaurants. not that far but it’s not just crossing the street like the gansevoort and the standard [both of which are substantially higher priced]. the lobby has lots of comfortable seating but is overlit and the lighting is surprisingly harsh, which makes it much less inviting. this strikes me as a relatively simple fix and would turn the lobby into one of the best in the area. i wish there was one comfortable lounge chair and otto but the two-top is not bad with its two upholstered arm chairs.
