The grounds were really well...

Liked: The grounds were really well kept and overall scenery is gorgeous. The room was spotless and had everything we needed. Would’ve been nice if there were robes. We used the thermal facilities and they were lovely, unfortunate about the relaxation room being under renovation. We had dinner in the coach house and the food was to a high standard but the service wasn’t great and we did have to go up to the bar to get our own drinks because we had been waiting so long. Overall our experience was lovely and we had a nice stay .

My wife and I had...

Liked: N/A
Disliked: My wife and I had a reservation in the Johnstone Estate Hotel on Monday 21st and 22nd April. I developed a vile cold - sneezing and coughing constantly; then my chest became bad. Not wishing to inflict my condition on other guests in the hoteI , I contacted the Hotel on Monday morning to ask if my reservation could be deferred. In late morning, The Reservation Team agreed to defer "but only this once". I took medication, put my phone on silence and fell into a deep sleep until 9pm when I read an email from the Reservations Team who advised that I had had to rebook before 8pm on that evening - This was never mentioned in the morning email. I tried to rebook but did not know the machinery by which to do so. I contacted the Booking.com help line for advice - I am still awaiting a response! The next morning the Reservations Team Manager and I exchanged emails and the result was that he refused to honour the promise of deferment offered less than 24 hours earlier. I have a second reservation with the same hotel in mid May and unless I get satisfaction on the promised deferment, I shall be cancelling this second reservation. (I have the email trail to back up this lack of honour.)

Disappointing

Liked: Staff were very nice and friendly.
Disliked: Food was not worth the wait, staff looked under pressure ,cleanliness was not good in The coach house brasserie, food on the floor lunch time and dinner time, unfortunately it didn't feel like the 4 star it advertised.
