Liked: Quirkiness, history was interesting... liked the location despite being a bit far from the venue I needed to go to for the weekend. But I liked this place... different than sterile hotel rooms.
Disliked: Took me a while to get use to the smallness of the room, but that was just me and not really a negative. By the end of my visit, I got use to it and found it a part of the hotel?s charm.

Liked: It is a really lovely property, very nicely and authentically restored. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice surprise having both a restaurant and bar/nightclub in the building. Great to be close to the Meat Packing district, the High Line and the Whitney.
Disliked: The only real negative for me was the distance to the subway and it also made for a bit of a long walk just getting over into the heart of the West Village. I?m a walker so not terrible but this is about as far on the West Side as you can get!

Liked: Charming budget hotel with special features and a nice restaurant and welcoming staff, very well located, easy to reach by public transport (all the way from JFK airport). Seems there is also a terrasse bar which however was closed in October. Great location, safe area for single women to walk around. Excellent coffee in the café/restaurant, nice service. I would certainly book again.
Disliked: The wc and shower facilities were clean but could be improved.

We will definitely stay at...
Liked: The location is incredible. We had a view of the Hudson river that couldn't be matched.. The Jane has a tremendous sense of place - athough (very small) these are not minimalist cookie cutter rooms. A tad rough around the edges it added to its charm, a little piece of theater that reflects what the west village was known for. A varied, interesting and lovely clientele as well.
Disliked: The front desk staff was pleasant and responsive - but not particularly well informed when asked about the area. They were however extremely responsive - we had two small issues - that were addressed by engineering - immediately and satisfactorily. We loved their quirky uniforms - anti corporate - delightful.

Liked: The location is great, lovely staff and a very cool place to be. For the area, it's a great budget too.
Disliked: The noise in the rooms from the heavy doors banging was very disruptive to sleep.

The famous Jane Hotel lived...
Liked: What can I say? The Jane is famous for its awesomeness and it did not disappoint. Loved my little cabin room. Clever storage in the room - a place for everything. The robe and slippers were an unexpected delight. The bathrooms were clean and I didn't ever have to wait for the shower. Since it was the off season, the rooftop was closed except for Tuesdays (and one of my nights happened to be Tuesday!) Enjoyed a drink up there with an amazing view, which was awesome. Great location - so close to the Hudson, Whitney Museum, High Line, Chelsea Market - heaps!
Disliked: Nothing big at all, really. My only comment is that I ate breakfast in The Rose (the restaurant at ground level) each morning. And while the menu showed multiple options on the breakfast menu, apparently the chef was never there in the morning, so just non-cooking options available. I had the yoghurt parfait each day, which was perfectly acceptable. However, if this wasn't a fluke due to vacations/sickness, I'd suggest updating the breakfast menu so guests' hopes of an egg and bacon sandwich aren't dashed (as mine were). But that's really not much of a complaint, honestly. Loved it.
