The Spotlight on The Jane Hotel

Historic Style Meets Music-Lover Convenience in Manhattan

Modern convenience meets vintage charm at The Jane Hotel, a quirky, budget-friendly stay in the heart of NYC’s trendy Meatpacking District. Just over a mile from Union Square and a short walk to the subway, this hotel offers a unique ship-cabin-inspired experience with warm tones, large mirrors, and thoughtful in-room amenities like flat-screen TVs, DVD players, and iPod docks—all with free WiFi.

Why Concert-goers love it

You're less than a 10-minute walk to the nearest subway, making it easy to zip to any major venue across Manhattan or Brooklyn. After the show, retreat to a cozy, quieter part of the city—The Jane strikes that rare balance of being close to the action but just removed enough for a restful night. The 3:00 PM check-in and generous 12:00 PM checkout are perfect for late-night arrivals and post-concert sleep-ins.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a stylish, budget-friendly home base
  • Solo travelers chasing a dream show
  • Couples planning a romantic, music-filled weekend
  • Fans needing a quiet space to recover after the encore
  • Budget-conscious concert-goers who still want a unique NYC experience

Food and Drink Options

While The Jane doesn’t offer 24/7 room service, it’s surrounded by late-night dining spots and walkable eateries in the Meatpacking District. Grab brunch or post-show bites at nearby cafés, or explore the West Village’s laid-back food scene. Breakfast isn’t formally offered on-site, but you're steps away from morning coffee and bagels.

Nightlife Options

The Jane boasts its own storied bar scene—don’t miss the classic cocktail lounge in the lobby, known for its vintage décor and occasional live music. You're also just minutes from some of NYC’s most iconic clubs, lounges, and rooftop bars scattered throughout the West Village and Chelsea. Whether you're winding down or just getting started, nightlife is at your doorstep.

What People Say

Guests love the historic charm, unique cabin-style rooms, and unbeatable location near the High Line and Hudson River. Many mention the hotel’s affordable rates and cool, artsy vibe as standout features. The lobby and bar are often highlighted as great places to mingle before or after a show.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are on the smaller side—think cozy, not cramped—and might not suit travelers who need a lot of space or modern minimalism. Some guests noted the shared bathrooms in certain rooms, so be sure to check room types when booking.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a stylish, affordable, and conveniently located base to launch your NYC concert adventures, The Jane Hotel hits all the right notes.

I will not come back....

Liked: Friendly reception, accommodating. They helped us with a booking confusion.
Disliked: Air conditioner was super loud and outdated. I was there years ago and the place has changed about 50%. No more breakfast room, reception is in the basement now. It went from being a Gem to being like a youth hostel.

A wonderful NY experience.

Liked: Great, fun, old school hotel. Comfortable bunk beds, slept well.
Disliked: Front desk and entryway were ultra modern, didn’t fit with the rest of the decor. That’s the only issue at all.

DON’T STAY HERE

Disliked: This hotel has been killed off by the new owners. It’s gone from a go to spot among all my friends to some sort of homeless hostel.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Disappointing

Liked: The room we stayed in was a bunk room and really did have the feel of early 20th century sailors quarters. There is still a sense of authenticity for the (incredibly small, but utilitarian) rooms. The shared bathrooms were really clean.
Disliked: All the shared spaces are now part of the private club and no longer part of the Jane Hotel. Disappointed not to have anywhere to sit and do a bit of work, and that these spaces are still advertised on Booking.com as part of the hotel. No hot water for any of the times two of us tried to shower (early morning, morning, midday, evening, late evening).
