Very poor

Disliked: Smallest room ever. I hear all neighbors. Very noisy doors.

The Jane has really lost...

Liked: Location is good.
Disliked: I have stayed at the Jane most years for over a decade. In recent years it has gone down hill, but my recent visit was too much. The corridor I was on had permanent occupants who used the bathrooms to clean dining ware and urinated in the showers. The Jane used to feel like a youth hostel conceived by West Anderson (a long time ago). Now it feels more like a homeless shelter conceived by David Lynch.

Kind staff

Liked: It was unique staying there really felt like an experience. Parking right around the corner along with the near by art parks. I used to live on a ship so the whole place felt nostalgic to me.
Disliked: Construction is always construction. I forget to bring shower shoes. It was windy on the second day.

Pleasant

Liked: It was fun to stay in the little cabin room for a night, and I enjoyed the decor, nice choice of fabrics, wall coverings, the beautiful wood paneling, etc. and it's in a great part of town.
Disliked: There was construction going on throughout the building with no access to any sort of common lounge area or cafe, and you had to use a freight elevator - I think I should have been given a discount for that. Also the shared bathrooms were cramped, awkward trying to brush your teeth next to a dude shaving lol.

Bedbugs, mold, homeless in the...

Liked: Location was great
Disliked: It was a hostel with homeless people staying there. The price is too good to be true because it is. After only a one night stay I have bed bug marks all over my body. I didn't realize there would be shared bathrooms and they werent event that clean. Mold was EVERYWHERE the smell, it was so had to breathe. I legit felt like i was in the Stanford prison experiment. Dont do it, the price isn't worth it. Stay in Jersey City if you need to. And read this review, I made the mistake of not reading reviews before booking!
