The Spotlight on The Hawes Inn by Innkeeper's Collection

Scenic Riverside Escape with Easy Access to Edinburgh Gigs

Modern comforts meet historic charm at The Hawes Inn by Innkeeper's Collection, a cosy country-style hotel overlooking the iconic Firth of Forth railway bridge. Located just a 20-minute drive from Edinburgh city centre, this inn offers a peaceful riverside retreat that still keeps you close to the action. With classic interiors, roaring log fires, and a traditional pub atmosphere, it’s an ideal base for concert nights with a touch of Scottish charm.

Rooms come equipped with flat-screen TVs, private bathrooms, and tea/coffee facilities, with many offering beautiful views of the river and the Forth Bridge. You're also within minutes of local attractions like Deep Sea World and two nearby golf courses, if you're extending your stay beyond the music scene.

Why Concert-goers love it

If you're heading into Edinburgh for a show, this inn is a great pick for a quiet night’s sleep after the encore. The hotel’s location just outside the city centre means less late-night noise and easier parking. With 12:00pm checkout, you can sleep in after a late show, and the attached pub means no need to hunt down a nightcap. While public transport options are available, driving or rideshare may be more convenient for late returns.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends who want a scenic, social base
- Solo travelers seeing a bucket-list act and wanting a peaceful stay
- Couples on a romantic weekend with music and views
- Fans needing a chill post-concert recovery space
- Budget-conscious music lovers who don’t mind being just outside the city

Food and Drink Options

The attached country pub and restaurant serves hearty dishes like braised pork belly and cheese-topped fish pie – perfect after a gig. While there’s no 24/7 room service, you’ll find evening dining and a warming log fire into the night. Breakfast is available the next morning, ideal if you’ve been out late. There are also other eateries a short drive away in the nearby town of South Queensferry.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is more about classic pub charm than clubbing, the on-site bar is a lovely place to wind down with a pint. For more nightlife, head into Edinburgh for a wide selection of bars, clubs, and live music venues – all within a 20-minute drive.

What People Say

Guests love the river views, historic atmosphere, and friendly staff. The pub is frequently praised for its food and character, and the rooms are noted as clean, comfortable, and quiet. Many appreciate the location as a peaceful alternative to the city bustle.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the building is a bit older, with stairs and no lift – something to consider if accessibility is a concern. Being outside the city means you’ll need your own transport or plan ahead for cabs after a late gig.

The Bottom Line

A charming riverside stay with character, comfort, and easy access to Edinburgh’s music scene — perfect for fans who want a relaxed night after the show.

Great stay in a perfect...

Liked: Excellent location for an event at the Highland Showgrounds (15-20 min drive), great location for viewing the Forth bridge too. Great decor in the rooms and a comfortable double bed.

Need to try harder.

Liked: Free car parking a bonus; room was clean and spacious with a good view over the Firth; shower worked well.
Disliked: Front of house staff were offhand and terse in response to questions about availability of food. Property is located just below main railway line to Scotland, so noisy at times.

Cozy stay in the heart...

Liked: Very nice and cozy hotel at 15mins drive of the airport. You get also to have a pleasant walk in Queensferry as its location is central. Nice garden, restaurant and bar and our room was super nice and comfortable
Disliked: Metro passes very often on the bridge next to hotel and could be a bit noisy especially at night. But other than that all was excellent

Cosy stay near the Forth...

Liked: Its a lovely little place to stay in the beautiful South Queensferry. We stayed for a visit to the Edinburgh Tattoo and it was easy to get to and from Edinburgh. Rooms were lovely, we had a sea view room. Breakfast was EPIC, didnt need anything else for the rest of the day. The bar is lovely and the staff super friendly.
Disliked: There is a slight issue with car racing at the moment but I know the staff, and the locals, are doing everything they can to stop this from happening.

Moderate Hotel but good location

Liked: Room is big for a family. Location is good, just across the ocean and close to train station (walkable). Many restaurants around including in the hotel.
Disliked: We could not open the window entirely because of the safety reason which is understandable but the room is very sticky and hot. We needed to request for a fan which moderately helped but not that much. The room is old and need some remodel. Not good for a light sleeper because of the loud train noise on the bridge. Staff is somehow unfriendly and almost invisible. I do not think it is worth the price.

Very good

Liked: We had a big family room and it was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom had all we needed. It's very handy to be able to go downstairs to eat, drink, or have a coffee
Disliked: Since we had a warm day, we struggled with the room being too warm. The window did not open, and there was no air conditioning. It's not something you would worry about normally, no lift,
