Great location, cheerful friendly staff.
Liked: Excellent location, friendly and attentive staff. Food was really good quality, tasty and excellently cooked.
Disliked: The only thing that let down the trip was the fact that the bedrooms were very hot indeed, but you can't control the weather and we are having a heat wave!

It will be my first...
Liked: I had to leave before breakfast started but what was laid out looked delicious with so much choice. They kindly packed up a bacon roll for me to take away along with a coffee. Next time, I'll make sure I stay for breakfast. Dinner was excellent and the pudding choice too good to pass.
Disliked: If I have to criticise anything I would have preferred biscuits in my room rather than sweets. That sounds so petty.

Apart from a hot uncomfortable...
Liked: This high street hotel fitted the bill well for an overnight rest and recuperation on my 4 day cycle trip. Smartly decorated with a stylish, nicely furnished bar. The staff were very helpful and ensured I had a safe lock-up space for my e-bike. The menu and food were excellent - just what I needed. I arrived just before 9pm when the kitchen was due to close, but had no problem getting a much-needed quick shower and change before eating. Breakfast included possibly the best porridge that I have ever eaten!!
Disliked: Unfortunately, my smallish room was hot and very stuffy (the weather was warm but only mid 20's), and I found it very hard to get it cool enough to sleep. And I really needed my sleep that night, having ridden 90 miles, and facing another 70 miles the next day. The small and noisy fan did little. Opening the window allowed in little air but a lot of traffic noise (my room was at the front). At 2am I opened the window (less traffic) and set the fan, and the room gradually cooled allowing a few hours sleep. I recommend a much better fan...?

Best place to stay in...
Liked: We have stayed here often and love the character, staff and the food!
Disliked: Unfortunately it was the hottest day of the year so far and so the room was really hot with only a noisy desk fan which did little to help!

A warm welcome, and delicious...
Liked: Rustic charm and timeless style, cosy, warm, and effortlessly elegant
Disliked: The entrance to the en suite. The door frame is very low and husband hit his head on it. Needs to be more noticeable with a ‘mind your head’ sign perhaps
