The Spotlight on The Gregorian Hotel

Chic Midtown Base Near NYC’s Biggest Concert Venues

Modern, boutique-style comfort meets unbeatable location at The Gregorian Hotel in New York City's Garment District. Just three blocks from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden, this hotel places you right in the heart of Midtown Manhattan—ideal for catching a show and exploring the city. With classic New York architecture and sleek interiors, The Gregorian blends timeless style with urban convenience.

Why Concert-goers love it

You can’t beat the location—walk to Madison Square Garden in minutes and skip the late-night cab ride after the encore. With Herald Square subway station just 328 feet away, getting to other major venues is fast and easy. The area stays lively late, but the hotel itself offers a surprisingly quiet night's sleep for Midtown. Check-in is available from 4:00 PM, and while checkout is at 11:00 AM, the front desk offers luggage storage if you're squeezing in a last stroll before heading out.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends heading to a big arena show
  • Solo travelers chasing that once-in-a-lifetime concert
  • Couples turning a concert night into a romantic city weekend
  • Fans looking for a calm, stylish retreat after a loud night out
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want a Midtown location

Food and Drink Options

While The Gregorian doesn’t have its own restaurant, it’s surrounded by some of NYC’s best late-night bites—perfect for that post-show craving. There’s no 24/7 room service, but with dozens of eateries within steps (plus food delivery options galore), you won’t go hungry. Several nearby cafés offer late breakfast or brunch for those sleeping in after a late night.

Nightlife Options

You’re in Midtown—bars, lounges, and music clubs are all around. Hop over to Koreatown for rooftop cocktails, or stay close with mellow pubs and wine bars just blocks away. While The Gregorian doesn’t have an on-site bar, its prime location means the city’s nightlife is right outside your door.

What People Say

Guests love the central location, especially for concerts and events at Madison Square Garden. Reviewers frequently mention the clean rooms, friendly staff, and surprisingly quiet atmosphere for such a busy area. The boutique vibe and walkability to major attractions earn consistent praise.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the rooms are on the cozier side—not unusual for NYC—but still well-equipped. Others wish the hotel offered a few more on-site amenities like a bar or restaurant. But with so much just outside, most don’t mind.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want to stay stylish and central without the noise or fuss, The Gregorian Hotel hits all the right notes.

Overall very pleasant. The staff...

Liked: The location was excellent, the room was comfortable and the staff was welcoming.
Disliked: There were no coffeemakers in the rooms and no coffee available in the lobby. There was no way to heat water for tea and we had to leave the hotel to get coffee in the morning. It’s nice to have the option to enjoy a cup of coffee when we wake up without having to get dressed and leave the property for your first morning cup.

We will stay here again!

Liked: A gem of a hotel! Very happy with the room. Bed was super comfortable. We have stayed in Manhattan often, and the Gregorian is our new favorite for features and value.
Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Only positive was that this hotel is in really centar of midtown like 2 minutes walking distance from Macy’s
Disliked: Room is really small -but that is not that bad as in NY it is usual stuff .Bathroom was so small too ,you could barely wash your face from wc -totally crazy .Jo breakfast in hotel ,no room service -you can’t order even glass of water.Very old hotel ,which look like it is renovated -but …..windows is like 50 years old !!!!Without noise isolation-result is that you can hear conversations of the people from the street !!!!No wall isolation too -next door room is like they are in your room .I was in NY like 10 times till now ,but this was far away worse choose to stay .Stay away from this hotel ,it is regularly 2 star in reality

An older hotel which is...

Liked: This is an older hotel in midtown Manhattan, but it is very clean and inviting. It's within walking distance of the Moynihan Train Station, Herald Square, and numerous subway lines. They offered an upgrade to two beds, and when they ran out of those rooms, they comped us a SECOND HOTEL ROOM.
Disliked: My husband was awoken by the early morning garbage trucks, but I slept right through them.

Terrible choice

Liked: The location. The size of the room
Disliked: During our recent stay, we were assigned Room 310 on the third floor. To our surprise, the room’s window faced directly onto a courtyard housing all the building’s air conditioning units. The noise from these machines was incessant and overwhelming, persisting both day and night, which made it challenging to relax or get a good night’s sleep.Inside the room, we encountered several maintenance issues. One of the drawers in the furniture wouldn’t stay closed, which was a constant annoyance. More concerning was the bathtub; its base was unstable and shifted noticeably whenever we moved, creating a slippery and potentially hazardous situation.Overall, the combination of relentless noise and unresolved maintenance problems made our stay far from comfortable. We hope the hotel addresses these issues promptly to enhance the experience for future guests.

Pleasant

Liked: The location was great and the room was clean. Also, staff in the hotel were friendly and kind
Disliked: The room was quite old fashioned and the noisy air conditioning unit was directly outside the window and in fact blocked all natural day light. We were only using the room to crash in but if we were staying any longer it would have been quite stressful.

Lovely boutique hotel in mid-town...

Liked: Great location and price. Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. Wonderful service!
Disliked: No coffee in the rooms or on site. We had 3 guests, and the only option was two double beds; queen beds would have been more ideal. We would, however, stay here again.
