The Golden Lion Hotel enjoys a central location in the north Cumbria town of Maryport overlooking the Solway Firth towards Scotland. Luxurious rooms with attached bathroom with free Wi-Fi and parking are complemented by a brasserie restaurant and bar. Overlooking Maryport harbor The Golden Lion is around 28 miles from Carlisle and less than 20 miles from Keswick in the beautiful Lake District. The west Cumbrian towns of Workington Whitehaven and Egremont are all within a 30-minute drive.

Pleasant stay with great staff

Liked: Staff very friendly - spacious room & quiet
Disliked: Beds not hugely comfortable but fine for a short stayBut surprised that weren’t notified of exterior window cleaners who arrived at 7.30 am 😁

Great central location with parking...

Liked: Excellent staff very welcoming and always willing to help. Fantastic breakfast too.
Disliked: We didn't have any towels in the room when we arrived but Mike soon sorted that out for us. Beyond that all was good

Liked: Great heating system. Comfortable bed.
Disliked: As a solo female traveller, a couple of the bar staff made me feel like an alien.

Very good

Liked: Friendly, professional staff. Clean room. Heating easily adjustable. Plenty of tea, coffee accessories. We'll stocke variety at the bar. Quiet.
Disliked: Food was average to poor in the evening.
