Charming, friendly and welcoming

Liked: The hotel has so much character and really was a gorgeous hotel to stay at. Yes a little tired and some TLC needed but that dod not distract from the charm of this place. The staff where brilliant, so helpful and just made us welcome and feel at home.
Disliked: If they put on a cooked breakfast would just be next level

Spacious and quiet stay.

Liked: The location next to the canal and Rembrandt Gardens is lovely for walks. The stay was quiet (we were in room 34) and the room was very spacious. As per previous reviews, the hotel could benefit from a refurb. For anyone expecting a 4* hotel in London for under £90 per night - I think the term delusional springs to mind. In spite of the rundown nature of the hotel, the bedding was clean, as was the bathroom and the windows opened to allow for some fresh air in. There was also an ironing board and iron in our room, which was really useful and in many other hotels we have had to venture to reception to gain access to these items. We did not have breakfast so cannot comment on the food. But all in all, the stay was quiet, spacious and comfy.
Disliked: As previously mentioned on other reviews, the hotel would benefit from refurbishment, with the photographs on Booking.com potentially leading to most of the negative reviews with other customers believing them to be misleading. We however, read the reviews of others, took them with a pinch of salt and were pleased that we did. We paid under £80 for our room for the one night stay and were comfy and undisturbed through the night, neither of these claims can be made for some of the cheapest big chain hotels we have stayed in.

Wonderful last minute stopover

Liked: I was at a work event until later than I had anticipated and booked this hotel last minute- honestly, it was because it was the cheapest option (£70 for the night) that had an en suite bathroom and I didn’t fancy sharing!I realise I got a last minute ‘deal’ but my goodness this hotel was lovely! A beautiful period property. The person on the front desk was FANTASTIC. I called to say I was arriving late to check that was ok- all fine. He then upgraded me to a suite free of charge. Room was huge, bed was on a mezzanine and very comfortable and bathroom was very spacious and modern.Honestly couldn’t fault it and was a LOT cheaper than Travelodge.
Disliked: Not sure if there is a lift? I would hope there is, but I was on the first floor anyway so didn’t bother me that much.

Very good

Liked: Location. Staff friendly.
Disliked: Reception claimed that room was not ready when I arrived 1 hour before official check in time, when in fact it was ready. What seemed to be the manager come out and sorted it out.

Although room facilities were poor....

Liked: Location Tube nearby
Disliked: Room facilities were not up to expectations. Shower didn’t work only hot water not cold. Toilet didn’t flush at all on our last day. No privacy in bathroom , neighbours could see in , no blockout covering over window. Kettle was split leaked water. There was an ironing board but no iron. The closet was leaking water from roof so couldn’t hang clothes.

Amazing, Romantic, Wonderful.

Liked: Stayed over for one night for a Noah Kahan concert on valentines and was the most romantic place I've ever been! Basement bar looked gorgeous, chocolatiere and florist shop 30 second walk, very convenient corner shop and small beautiful array of restaurants. For one night, 2 of us, £89 (which was a bargain and a half!) We were upgraded to the garden suite! Most gorgeous stunning reception and gorgeous room and windows and curtains and a mini fridge! AC was very welcomed as the room was so cosy and bathroom gorgeous
Disliked: I would not call the toiletries "luxury" and in the evening there was a slightly unsociable reception staff

Disappointing

Liked: The room itself was ok, but on arriving the room was cold and I could not get the heating to work, I then decided to shower however there was no hot water, I called down and they advised me to just run the taps, I run the taps for 30 minutes without any joy.

Very disappointing.

Disliked: The room I stayed in (6) was very tired, and worn. Window didn't lock properly and being on the ground floor I felt was dangerous, lock on the door was also broken. Carpets need professionally cleaning throughout, as smells of an old persons home.Breakfast was poor, only bread, ham and cheese on offer. Some boiled eggs and small pots of yoghurt. Not as the advert describes in the main description for the hotel. Not what I would class as a 4 star hotel.

Disliked: The old facilities furniture in the room and the carpet was defective mold in the bathroom. And the ground is Thin you can hear everything from the room above you.
