Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Very disappointed as this was...

Liked: The location of the hotel was great, 10 minutes to central London for shopping on Oxford St etc or sight seeing. The bed and pillows in the apparent "free upgraded" room was comfortable.
Disliked: When I originally booked it stated a full breakfast was included, upon check in was told it was continental only and could not upgrade. However, we had been "upgraded to a suite, at no extra cost". The room was extremely tired looking. It had been attempted to be patched up in areas which looked hilarious!! The lock on the door was loose, used towel in the middle of floor when entering the room, bedside lamps didn't work, television kept cutting out. In the bathroom a broken toilet roll holder, big dent in the bathroom door, dripping tap, one bath towel between two people, we asked for another only to be told they were waiting on laundry, which never arrived at all. miniscule amount of toiletries which would not be be sufficient enough to wash with. This room was apparently a suite which was a "free upgraded room" I worry to think what the room was like that we originally booked (Deluxe Room). The breakfast consisted of supermarket own brand brought yoghurt and pre packed croissants some cut up cucumber and cold boiled eggs, very disappointed. Photographs on website are very deceiving.

Cheap for London, but subpar...

Liked: The staff were helpful even though our room wasn't ready until half 3 even though it was advertised as 2pm.The bed was comfortable but there were brown stains on the white duvet cover.
Disliked: Brown stains on the duvet cover. The towel heater in the bedroom couldn't be turned off. Glad I realised or I would've burnt my hand. Also it ticks constantly so we had to shut both doors to the bathroom otherwise we would've heard it all night. The TV didn't work, we tried to plug in the aerial ourselves and there were bugs coming out of the plug socket.

Enjoyable overall and would stay again if I had the same same room.

Liked: Breakfast was a basic continental breakfast, which was sufficient for my needs.
Disliked: The property was once a very grand and stylish hotel. It is showing signs of needing modernisation, but the room I had was was spacious and up to an acceptable standard. A ten minute walk to a shop / restaurants which I didn't mind. It was difficult to find a parking space.
