The Chequers Hotel

Very disappointing.

Liked: There was no AC and the fan supplied was filthy. No lift. Towels had large holes. No mattress or pillow protectors.
Disliked: The bed only had a bottom sheet, no protector or top sheet, I doubt if the doona cover was washed between guests. The towels had large holes!

Tired property.

Liked: The fact they owned the issues and discounted. That's why it was fair.
Disliked: On third floor, many stairs, upper floors Very grubby doors, walls, windows, our room very creaky floors, stiff old and mouldy corners to sash windows, room smelled of feet, had to close the broken blind in the bathroom to use the toilet especially, as no frosting on window, as other room and a landing window looking at you, mouldy tiles to shower and part broken on it.Lacking plug sockets, dressing table chair broken, sofa cushions need! Changing. Over all place very tired in need of investment. Buffet breakfast swimming in grease and coffee cold.Downstairs lovely and staff helpful.

Nicely run hotel right in...

Liked: Lovely old hotel in the centre of Newbury . Good room , comfy bed , good shower . Very good value , came with a very decent Buffett breakfast. Nice bar too , staff very friendly courteous polite and helpful .

Liked: Well appointed room and bathroom. Five minutes' walk from town center. Reasonably priced dinner and breakfast
