A bit disappointing.

Liked: We have visited the hotel a few times over the years and were pleased to see it as we remembered it with the olde-worlde charm, iconic dining room and great location still intact. The room was spacious and comfortable with a Castle view and as a keen musician I enjoyed the classical music-themed wall decorations.
Disliked: The impression we had was that the hotel on the dates we visited was rather short-staffed. The staff were doing their best, but they were rather thin on the ground and this manifested itself mainly in delays at breakfast and dinner time. The room was fairly clean (though a little short on supplies of drinks and with no snacks) but we were surprised on opening one of the bedside drawers to see that it contained a supply of underwear (fortunately clean) left by a previous guest. The food was good overall with plenty of choice but a couple of the dishes were not up to the standard we expected and the fruit salad kept running out at breakfast time. Unfortunately we left feeling a little let down after paying a premium price for an economy experience.

Magnificent.

Liked: The room was absolutely beautiful! Cosy, classic, comfortable. Felt like a prince there. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Fair price. A wonderful place to stay.

Liked: The room, staff and food were all excellent. Great central location for site seeing.
Disliked: The only downside was the entrance to the carpark, slightly narrow for larger cars.

Great location hotel

Liked: Breakfast was good.Room was lovely & clean.
Disliked: Room faced onto the main road so there was quite a bit of traffic noise early in the morning. I would ask for a room overlooking the car park at the back of the hotel if I returned. Also bar was shut when we returned to the hotel in the late evening.

Lovely historic hotel with modern...

Liked: The room was well appointed, modern and comfortable. Dinner was spectacular - beautifully prepared food and nice atmosphere. Loved the outside beer garden with heaters and interesting decor throughout the hotel.
Disliked: There is no real pub in the hotel. The pub seems to be a part of the restaurant with almost all tables reserved and no seating for just a pint.
