A perfect stay

Liked: Beds were extremely comfortable, bath was huge and needed after a trek up kinder. Location was so good - right near Winnats pass. The lady working on check in was great, really welcoming! We ate at the pub which was delicious!! Halloumi fries were the best. The perfect stay - I’ll definitely return.

Liked: Great location for activities around Castleton, walking/ cycling. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The food for both evening meal and breakfast is highly recommended. Great variety of drinks at the bar. Highly recommended. Clean room, very spacious and comfortable. Great quality shower for recovery after a hard days walking.Shower gel and shampoo supplied.
Disliked: Road noise, it’s not the hotels fault at all however any light sleepers (as we are) will notice the 24hr busy road that runs through Castleton. Use good quality ear plugs!

Liked: The breakfast was nice. Eventually the room we finally got was nice.
Disliked: The first room we were put in didn't even have a TV lead. Surely someone must have known this. Any member of staff should have seen this. I did within seconds.Eventually we were given a choice of rooms of which only 1 was good enough. The problem with that room was the cleanliness. Clearly, the full length mirror had not been cleaned. Disgusting. Then, while laying in bed, I put the little reading light on by the bed. It acted as a spotlight and the amount of dust in the room, swirling about was frightening. We both saw it and assumed it would stop. It didn't. Castleton is a beautiful place. We come here often, but this experience has made me wonder if we chose the wrong place to stay. There are a couple more issues I'd rather not say on here, but in a few weeks time we will be back and if this is really reas, I'd like the manager to contact me via email and arrange a meeting to discuss things.
