Friendly staff in well-placed historic...

Liked: Staff were very welcoming and friendly. The hotel is well situated. Its a slice of history.
Disliked: Hotel was comfy but feels a little dated - both the rooms and the communal facilities - bathroom facilities were quite old fashioned - and nowhere to put toiletries. Our window didnt open and it was a boiling hot weekend. We did mention this to housekeeping but had to prop it open with a drawer overnight.

Lovely. Felt very welcome and...

Liked: Charming hotel and a lovely comfortable room and bed. The staff were absolutely lovely and we will happily stay there again - thank you. The breakfast was superb and beautifully cooked. We stayed in a ground floor room with a little courtyard outside and it was lovely.
Disliked: The only slight drawbacks were that it was a really hot weekend and the window would only open by a small amount. The courtyard garden was really pretty but a little extra screening would have given more privacy.

Lovely accomodation, food disappointing

Liked: Lovely room, comfortable bed, good service
Disliked: Food, even breakfast not up to standard

Disappointing

Liked: The staff were absolutely flawless. Very friendly, efficient and helpful. It is a delightful building too.
Disliked: For the price, you expect bigger than just a double bed. The bathroom light didn't come on properly and there was a fixture on the shower wall which was wonky and seemed close to falling off the wall. The tv had streaming services enabled but, despite being connected to the internet, they did not work. Breakfast itself was fine but the coffee was burnt. All in all a lot of potential but a lack of attention made the stay underwhelming.

An ok stay for the...

Liked: This hotel has a lovely courtyard for dining and drinking in.
Disliked: The decor could do with a new lick of paint in the hallways and up the stairs and maybe new carpet or a good clean as certain areas did smell a bit dogey.. The roll top bath in our room (206) needs looking at, as all the enamel is peeling off in the bottom, as to say we used the shower instead, but I was so looking forward to a nice soak.
