Brown Hotel during the Covid...
Liked: Historical building and fascinating architecture and interior design. Beautiful and elegant place.
Disliked: Our timing to stay at the hotel - current pandemic situation and protests in the city do not help neither the hotel nor the guests.

Liked: Beautiful hotel, so historically elegant! Great service amidst the Covid pandemic, we felt very safe and comfortable. And we had to order the Hot Brown" - it did not disappoint!!

Cool place, bad timing
Liked: This is a lovely hotel, and each staff member we met was sweet and helpful. During normal times, this would be a lively neighborhood. If not for construction, there is a cool rooftop area.
Disliked: Covid and construction made our stay a little less than ideal - a lot was closed, including on site restaurants and the rooftop area. The neighborhood (theaters) were boarded up. And our toilet overflowed. ?? I suspect that a year from now, this will return to being a very nice place to stay.

We wish we could have...
Liked: The history and beauty.
Disliked: Covid19 kinda took away our full experience as well as construction. After being able to eat at restaurants before and shop in gift shop it is was kinda disappointing not to be able to share that with family who had not experienced that yet.

Liked: It's historic nature.
Disliked: It seemed dirty. The service was off. They got my orders wrong. Vending machines didn't work. Construction going on over my head. It just seemed one small bad thing after another. I realize staffing is low, but so were guests numbers. Disappointed!

Would definitely NOT stay here...
Liked: Bellmen Doug in the evening and Tom in the morning were very helpful and friendly. Food was good.
Disliked: I needed to get specific directions from the hotel operator who was definitely not helpful and not hospitable in the least as someone who is giving a guest a first impression of the hotel. The check in woman had a very unfriendly attitude and was not receptive to answering any questions we had. The hotel was very dark inside and smelled musty. Outside, there was lots of construction and noise going on as the hotel is being remodeled. There was absolutely no signage to indicate where to check in and get valet service. We understand that there is political unrest going on in these times and also great concern about coronavirus, so the hotel was definitely NOT up to par. My biggest complaint is that since the hotel is not able to offer much compared to its usual high standards, THE ROOM RATES NEED TO BE ADJUSTED ACCORDINGLY!!! Price for one night stay was way too high under the circumstances. We are seasoned travelers and we have found that all the other places we have stayed in have adjusted their rates.

Disliked: Moved to three different rooms! First was wrong size bed from what I paid for, 2nd had BLOOD, or what appeared to be blood, on the covers.
