Liked: Excellent staff who were really helpful and kind. I loved the good old-fashioned side to this hotel where service was evidently important. I had a dog with me and she was made very welcome. There was a very useful' doggy pack.' At breakfast, she was given a mat to lie on, a plate with biscuits and some sausage. The hotel is next to the river with grassy areas to run about in and a good river walk. The Garden bar was attractive and the pizza was excellent. The garden was a really nice place to sit in.The hotel was furnished in a style appropriate to its history and it was lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to stay here again.
Disliked: The car park was a challenge. However, l was lucky when l arrived as it wasn't full so l had more room to manoeuvre . The plumbing in my room was very noisy!

Exceptional

Liked: Breakfast menu; friendly staff,Good location right at the end of the high street. Almost two mile walk to the beach; but, a bus is available if you don't want to walk.
Disliked: Some low beams on the top floor we had to be a little careful with.

Disliked: Bed too soft for me so back ache but that’s a personal thing . Traffic noise and seagulls woke me up .. no shower for hubby but I like a bath so I was happy
