The Spotlight on The Boathouse

Relaxed Seaside Vibes Just Minutes from the Action

Charming and coastal, The Boathouse in Seaview offers a peaceful retreat right by the beach. Set next to Puckpool Park and Appley Beach, this stylish inn provides stunning panoramic views of the Solent, ideal for unwinding after a big show. With individually decorated rooms, modern comforts like flat-screen TVs and tea and coffee facilities, and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s a scenic base just a short drive from Ryde and ferry connections.

Why Concert-goers love it

The Boathouse is just a 9-minute drive from the Ryde Pier Head passenger ferry and 15 minutes from the Fishbourne car ferry, making it a convenient overnight option after a mainland gig or Isle of Wight festival. Guests appreciate the peaceful location for post-concert recovery, while the on-site bar and sun terrace are perfect for continuing the vibe into the evening. While there’s no 24-hour reception, check-in starts at 15:00 and the relaxed vibe makes late arrivals easy to manage with prior notice.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends who want a scenic base with space to chill
- Solo travelers looking for a quiet place to recharge after a gig
- Couples making a weekend of live music and seaside walks
- Fans needing a calm space after a loud, late-night show
- Budget-conscious music lovers who want value with a view

Food and Drink Options

The Boathouse features its own on-site restaurant and bar, serving up local dishes and drinks with a view. While there’s no room service, the bar stays open into the evening and the sun terrace is a great spot for a nightcap. Breakfast is available in the morning—ideal for a slow start after a late night.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is more about relaxed seaside vibes than buzzing nightlife, it's a short ride to Ryde where you’ll find pubs, bars, and live music spots. Back at the hotel, the bar serves up local ales and wines in a cozy, friendly setting.

What People Say

Guests consistently mention the beautiful views, friendly staff, and comfortable, individually decorated rooms. Many love the proximity to the beach and ferry, making it a great stopover before or after a concert. The quiet location gets high marks for those looking to unwind.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are upstairs and there’s no lift, so those with mobility concerns should request ahead. Some guests noted the Wi-Fi signal can be spotty in certain areas, but most were too busy enjoying the views to mind.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want a peaceful, scenic place to recharge after a show, The Boathouse is a charming and convenient choice by the sea.

Comfortable well positioned small hotel...

Liked: Convenient position right on front of beach. 18 minute walk into Seaview centre. Comfortable clean room but of the 3 windows on this hot weekend only 1 could be opened. The decor is fine but becoming tired. Excellent range of tasty breakfasts. The manager was very helpful in booking our ferry transfers at a cheaper trade rate. Did not sample the evening food fare so can not comment.
Disliked: Tired furnishings and decor. Kitchen closed by 20:30 and earlier on Sundays. I understand the place is going to undergo refurbishment in the autumn under new ownership.

Good but could have been...

Liked: The cleanliness of the bedrooms and the breakfast choice each morning. The position of the pub was fantastic with great views across the Solent to Portsmouth.
Disliked: The evening meal menu was limited and was the same every night. Was not aware of any specials available. The breakfast on our last morning was okay, although a little late, but it was disappointing to see that the dining area was not very clean as the seats at our table were covered in breadcrumbs, as well as the floor underneath.

Sunny, great location, excellent food...

Liked: Location, Carole atbreakfast and Maggie who were both exceptionally helpful and friendly (thank you), and another lady in at the weekends. Really well positioned, food really excellent esp at breakfast, the staff tried to go the extra mile and this really made us feel welcome and looked after. Clean and beach themed, appreciated the little touches too.
Disliked: The music from the pub a little intrusive in our room, esp in the morning, but it’s a pub and the music wasn’t really loud just constant during opening hours. It was very hot and we could only open one small window, all the rest painted closed.
