An enchanting Cotswold retreat in the picturesque town of Burford few could resist the rustic charm of this 16th century residence whether it is for a leisure break business trip or special occasion. Bay Tree won Small Hotel of the Year at the National Enjoy England Excellence Awards 2011. The hotel also has a Gold Award for Excellence from Enjoy England. The Bay Tree is steeped in history and awash with character from the foundations of its mellow stone walls - clad with pinkish-purple wisteria blooms - to its wooden beam rafters. Oak-paneled public rooms bare stone walls and original stone fireplaces including an inglenook fireplace provide a textured canvas upon which rich fabrics woven tapestries and antiques have been laid down with exquisite flair. For your relaxation you can select a good book from the hotel library sink back into a comfortable chair and allow the stresses of everyday life to gradually seep away. Nice, but expected better

Liked: Great central location, easy free onsite parking and lovely restaurant with a nice garden.
Disliked: 'Optional' 12.5% Service charge added to bill. No fridge or air con in room and no HD TV either. Most fruit juices and milk were empty at breakfast and we counted 8 uncleared used tables and staff not taking away used bowls/plates after delivering food.

Liked: Situation, room excellent, parking good, breakfast excellent
Disliked: Restaurant, only had one evening meal there. The food was good, but the service was poor. One server was offhand to the point of rudeness.

A very restful hotel in...

Liked: The location was superb, the gardens delightful, the food was very good.
Disliked: As an hotel, I did not expect a great choice of beers in the bar, but a greater choice would have made our stay much better.

Liked: I’ll stay at this hotel was exceptional the Staff were absolutely amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. We will be back. 100% recommend this hotel.
