All that this charming Staffordshire market town has to offer is nearby and Uttoxeter Racecourse is within walking distance. Alton Towers is just a short drive away. The hotel maintains original features including a fine unsupported oak staircase. Bistro 1777 is a restaurant within the building housed in the original bank vault. Pleasant

Liked: Location. Plenty of free parking. Reasonable size room. Good shower. Fairly comfy bed.For 1 night it was ok for what we wanted
Disliked: Ultra thin pillows. Folded mine in half and still had stiff neck in morning. Ultra thin curtains. Room was light at 3am in morning

I won’t be coming back...

Liked: There was nothing to like about the property. It’s a real pity because with an upgrade and good clean up could be good.
Disliked: The property was tired and needs upgrading. The bathroom tired and needing an upgrade with floors lifting. My room had an inter-leading door which I could hear the person in the room next door. Every little sound hardly slept due to the noise level. Wi-fi didn’t work and staff not helpful. My lights flickered only 2 were working. Needs maintenance.

Fine for an overnight stay

Liked: Easy walk from/to the train station, decently priced room, lovely old building
Disliked: The facilities in the room were a bit dated, and there is very little soundproofing between rooms (could hear our neighbour watching videos/making calls on his phone late at night and very early in the morning!). Also certain parts of the building get locked at night, which meant we had a lot of difficulty getting to our room when we got back in the evening!

We couldn’t wait to leave,...

Liked: There was no breakfast offered on a Monday we were told when we arrived. In room facilities book said breakfast WAS available on bank holidays but it wasn’t true
Disliked: Tiny little room with high windows they you couldn’t look out of, no mat in bath for shower no home comforts, not even a picture on any wall. I felt like we were in the maids quarters
