Excellent but v expensive.

Liked: Good facilities, provided everything we needed, clean.
Disliked: Nothing.

a lovely lovely stay!

Liked: we stayed here with our families the night before our wedding and it was absolutely perfect. We had a private dinner in the conservatory and drinks on the lawn. the whole experience was just perfect. the staff were amazing. everyone’s rooms were comfortable and clean, we just loved it.

Outstanding staff and comfortable rooms

Liked: The property had lovely grounds, with tennis courts and a spa. The staff couldn’t help you more, they were brilliant. The beds were comfy. Lots of parking and space.
Disliked: The property inside is a little dated and the location is quite far away from anything else, except the Acorn Inn. Therefore there isn’t lots to do in the evenings.

Liked: The team were absolutely amazing! Special mention to GM and deputy GM who made our experiences very special. They payed attention to finer detail.

Beautifully relaxing weekend away

Liked: The grounds are beautiful with lots of private spaces to sit. The hotel was decorated beautifully and the food was good especially the summer Friday night BBQ. The bed was so comfortable and we stayed in a king bed room and the bathroom was lovely. Best bit was the staff, they are all friendly and happy to help you out. Highly recommend this place. Lovely having a small spa on site too.
Disliked: The flies in the swimming pool, we went into the spa at 10.30am and there were quite a few around the edge of the pool, that hadn’t been cleaned away.

Liked: Excellent hotel with lovely pool and spa. The food was a bit pricey but excellent. All staff very helpful and friendly. Would definitely return.
Disliked: Only downside was the decor... in need of updating as furnishings in bedroom was very rather "tired". Bedhead was stained and armchairs patched. But still a lovely country house hotel.

An old 3 stars hotel....

Disliked: This is not a five stars hotel. This is a 3 star at best. Here's my view, take what you want from it.We're a couple in our forties, we spent 1 night for our anniversary.The property is very tired, it needs some rest and refurbishment. The clientele seems to be over 60 and I guess not bothering much, this seems to be why the hotel is still in business.A strong smell of cigar smoke permeates the bedrooms and all the common areas. It was clearly a big thing in this hotel back in the days, but in 2025 it simply cannot be.The breakfast was meh. From a 5 stars hotel I was expecting a big beautiful buffet and a-la-carte. Here the buffet is really tiny (I mean it), and the menu is also very limited.I ordered from the waiter, who was clearly a student, and I said "I would like my bread toasted please" and he answered "No I was planning of bringing you the toaster. Of course it's toasted.". I didn't say anything because he's young and meant it as a joke, but again, not 5 stars hotel spirit. The rest of the staff was amazing though, very kind and professional. Especially another young lady, who when the extra mile the night before to go find the manager and ask if we could have some dessert.Bad mattress in the room. One side, the less used, was ok but the other one was very bad, I didn't manage to sleep.Wimpy shower (over the bathtub) in the room.From a 5 stars hotel you'd expect better toiletries, instead it was the bare minimum, and average quality.The "SPA" definitely needs improvement, first of all cleaning: there were lots of cobwebs (albeit this was a common factor, even in the bedroom). The whirlpool was ok in the sense of hydrojets and bubbles, but the water hadn't been changed in so long it was green and smelly.
