Areas for Improvement

Charming Hotel & Staff, but...

Liked: The exterior and theme of the hotel were beautiful, offering a rustic, hunting lodge vibe that I really enjoyed. The location was convenient, and the staff were courteous and helpful throughout my stay. The Wi-Fi connection was solid and reliable.I also really appreciated how family-friendly the hotel was. It was great to see children playing and families enjoying themselves throughout the property—it created a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Disliked: Unfortunately, my room had a number of issues. The TV only received one channel, which was disappointing. Perhaps a connection issue with that specific television, I'm unsure. I clicked around on the remote as did my dad with no luck. We had wifi so called it quits after a few tries. The room itself was not properly cleaned. I noticed excessive dust buildup on fixtures, stains on the lampshade and walls, and dirt and debris embedded in the faux fur window valance. Furniture was chipped, and areas near the air conditioning unit showed peeling trim and gaps in the wall. I took photos to document these issues. The noise level was extreme. Throughout the night, there were loud televisions and unexplained banging noises loud enough to wake me and my 84-year-old father multiple times. The walls seemed to offer almost no sound insulation. I mentioned this to the front desk the next morning and was given a polite apology.I also found it ironic that while there was a card asking guests to tip housekeeping, the cleanliness of my room was clearly not up to even a basic standard that I know the folks who operate this hotel would expect and pride themselves on providing to their guests. While the staff were professional and friendly, and while I enjoyed the family-friendly energy of the hotel, the overall experience did not reflect the quality I expected. I’ve stayed in hotels around the world, and this was by far one of the loudest and least well-maintained rooms I’ve encountered. I would give them another chance if I was back in that neck of the woods, as I see their team cares, however this experience was disappointing.

Double charged THREE times!

Liked: The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Disliked: I was double charged three separate times for my rooms due to a booking.com error, and then two subsequent errors on Stoney Creek Inns end. I ended up paying 350$ for two rooms in the end, and the amount put on my credit card dropped my credit score. I didn't receive assistance because the manager didn't prioritize the return or dispute of this despite my multiple calls. It took a full business week for this dispute to be settled, and the manager even told me NOT to dispute it with my credit card company, despite the charges being fraudulent. Overall I'm disappointed with Stoney Creek and I won't be staying again. An Airbnb would have been cheaper and given me less hassle, for a fraction of the price, and likely at the advertised price, instead of double.(which is what I ended up paying at Stoney Creek.) Overall, don't go here! This was incredibly frustrating to me and despite the magnitude of these errors, it took multiple calls to even have my issue addressed. I attempted to call corporate and complain, but my calls went to Kansas City. I gave up, this hotel is far more stressful than it is worth.
