Liked: Conveniently located close to the A38 heading down to Cornwall I picked this property to break a journey for work and was not disappointed. The hotel is in the beautiful Devon village of Plympton and set in beautiful grounds. The staff were very friendly and the room I stayed in was relaxing and comfortable.

not a wonderful as i...

Liked: lovely gardens and surroundings. Very interesting building , Georgian country house. Ample parking . most staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely bar .
Disliked: 1st room i was allocated had huge water mark on the ceiling , room was changed promptly. 2nd room had flakey paint ceiling in the bathroom above the shower. no USB charging port for charging phone, but the reception did have a plug in adaptor i could borrow. Mirror lights in bathroom only one working. Breakfast service was slow and Full english was not good quality Sausage, Hash or Black pudding , very disappointing. Dinning room was shut on last morning because the hotel was taken over by a wedding party, but the management still allowed non wedding guests to stay although the normal facilities were not available. a bit cheeky.

Unexpected and delightful

Liked: Staff were all helpful and knowledgeable and couldn't do enough to helpThe grounds are mature and an unexpected delight. We eat in the restaurant two nights and we're not disappointed with the food, staff and ambience. We had not been before and were really happy. Our room and ensuite was probably bigger than all of our downstairs ar home. We will most certainly return.
