Central London Style with Easy Access to the City's Best Gigs

Sonder The Voyage is a modern, minimalist hotel tucked into a classic London townhouse setting just a couple minutes' walk from Paddington Station. With air-conditioned rooms and fast, free WiFi, it's a sleek and affordable base for music lovers wanting to explore the city or catch a show nearby. You're close to hotspots like Oxford Street and the Royal Albert Hall, but the quiet square location offers a calm retreat after the encore.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel's unbeatable location—just a 2-minute walk from Paddington Station—makes it a dream for concert-goers. Whether you're heading to venues near Hyde Park, Camden, or West London, transport is fast and frequent. After a late night, the calm residential vibe of Norfolk Square offers a peaceful place to recharge. While check-in starts at 16:00, the self-service model offers flexibility and ease.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Couples planning a romantic concert weekend
  • Fans wanting quiet recovery time after a loud night out

Food and Drink Options

While Sonder The Voyage doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, its central location means you’re steps from plenty of food options. Paddington Station has late-night grab-and-go spots, and there are cafes open early for a post-show lie-in breakfast. No room service, but delivery apps work well here.

Nightlife Options

You're a short tube ride or walk from some of London’s best nightlife—think bars around Soho, clubs in Camden, and lounges near Notting Hill. Back at the hotel, the quiet square setting means you can wind down easily after your night out, with no noisy bar downstairs to keep you up.

What People Say

Guests love the clean, modern rooms and the super-convenient location. The self-check-in process is described as smooth and hassle-free, and many mention how quiet the rooms are despite being in central London. The proximity to Hyde Park concerts and easy airport connections are also big pluses.

Areas for Improvement

There’s no on-site staff or concierge, which can be a downside for travelers wanting personal service. Rooms are compact (this is London, after all), and there’s no breakfast served at the hotel—but many guests say the trade-off is worth it for the location and price.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to a London gig and want a quiet, modern base with brilliant transport links, Sonder The Voyage hits all the right notes.

Passable

Liked: Great location next to Paddington.
Disliked: Room was small and wasn't very clean. App to unlock the room didn't always work and WiFi wasn't great. No lift to room. Staff were great and helped every request.

Superb

Liked: The location was incredibly central and made it easy to get around. Having Hyde Park within walking distance was a real bonus. My room was small but well-appointed and very quiet, which made for a great stay.
Disliked: Pillows were very uncomfortable - that would be my one complaint.

Very nice and comfortable for...

Liked: Very clean and the bed was super comfy. Good amenities in the shower/bathroom and nice to have a kettle.
Disliked: WiFi was very slow and so the TV struggled to play anything.

Summing up my stay: Too...

Liked: The location is a little TOO close to Paddington. Do yourself a favour and look for something a bit further afield. The best thing about this hotel was the front desk staff member who helped us re-locate to a better hotel. I'd like to thank her again for recognizing that our room was sub-par and taking action right away. Her efforts made our trip much more enjoyable. The lockers in the lobby are very useful.
Disliked: The room was tiny and very poorly set-up. This really should be a room for one (or a storage closet) not two as advertised. The bathroom is tiny and the sink is in the main room taking up much of the available space. There is no chair to sit on. The cramped claustrophobic feel was not aided but the dusty surfaces and musty stale air. This room in no way resembled what we saw online when we booked. The bathroom door is glass (your hygiene routine becomes a shadow play for your roommate). It made two different sharp, loud sounds like a small firearm going off when opened and closed, and did not close correctly. Definite safety issue. Problem waiting to happen. The shower is so small only a circus-act could wash the lower part of the body, and the soap dispensers are inconveniently located just where you could use another six inches of elbow-room. Overall I felt miserable and ripped-off in this room.

Worst stay ever. Do not...

Liked: The location (just 2 minutes walk to Paddington station).
Disliked: [DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL] I was assigned to Room 304 but the electric door lock was out of order. I basically did not need to press in the access code. The door was unlocked and I could just push it open. I then immediately contacted the front desk staff and she came to check to find out that the metal piece on the door lock almost fell off, hence making the door lock malfunctioned. She took out the falling nails and the metal piece just completely felt off and you could clearly see the lock was completely rotten inside the wooden door . The front desk staff said she would call maintenance to take a look at it, but I told her I was in a rush and even though the lock was “fixed” I wouldn’t feel safe to stay inside. I requested for a new room but she told me “all the rooms are fully booked for the day”. She then took my luggage downstairs and called the management for solutions. About 10 minutes later, I received an email from the hotel that a new room (Room 311) had been assigned for me with the same access code. The electric door lock worked fine but I found that the AC was not properly installed, hence making a funny noise throughout the night. Worse still, the wifi in the room was not working at all. I tried to talk to the hotel app’s 24/7 customer service but they asked me to just use the hotel general network (“Sonder”). Unfortunately there was only very weak wifi near the door area and no network at all on the bed. The real nightmare was found in the next morning that I found several dead bugs near the window side of the bed. I do not know what they are – either some kind of bed bugs or in worst case scenario, feces left by some insects / animals. I was horrified and could not stay in the room anymore. So I immediately packed my bags and checked out right away even though I was supposed to check out the next day. I will NOT recommend this place at all.

Nice hotel but experience completely...

Liked: This hotel has a great location a few minutes from Paddington station, and the room was pleasant and spotlessly clean (though very hot).
Disliked: The only reason I am giving this hotel a low rating is the intrusive requests for data and the overwhelming amounts of emails. Despite asking me (after booking) to go through facial recognition technology and upload my driver's license (totally unnecessary for a one night stay) it still took a long time to check me in due to systems being down and then my door code not working. I received multiple emails saying I would not be granted access unless I uploaded personal information. Too intrusive, they said it was because of the door technology which didn't work anyway. Give me a good old fashioned key and stop asking for so much data! For that reason I wouldn't stay again.
