Liked: Good location.
Disliked: The renovation is extremely outdated, and the design overlooks the safety of guests. The shower equipment is installed inside the Spa pool. The Spa pool has a depth of more than 50cm, requiring guests to step into it to shower. There are insufficient safety measures in place to prevent slips and falls. The shower area has only half a shower curtain, leaving the entire bathroom floor wet and slippery after showing. The motel owner has not implemented any safety measures. Before we left, we talked with their staff about improvement to prevent guests safety. But the staff said they don’t seem to have a solution for this. We feel extremely dissatisfied.

Convenient location

Liked: • Spacious room with large spa tub in the bedroom. Did not use the tub!• Conveniently located for the Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve and the cbd, but not within walking district.• 2km drive to New World supermarket.• Plenty of parking.
Disliked: • There was some sort of pump-like noise that cycled on and off every few minutes. Quite disturbing.• Could use a refresh!

Great hospitality!

Liked: When we asked for ice, Antony went and bought some. He also upgraded us to the 1 bedroom, and it was very roomy. The tub was huge. Great water pressure. All the staff was super friendly. We had read mixed reviews online, but we took a chance because our Auckland Marriott hotel had turned out to be a bitter disappointment, forcing us to change plans. Silver Fern was so much better that we were very glad we stayed. The whole area of Rotorua has a sulfur smell, but it wasn't overwhelming, like at the geysers and hot springs nearby. We also didn't see the mosquitoes some other people talk about in reviews.
Disliked: The toilet seat looked worn and aged. The bed was harder than we would have liked, however overall we really appreciated our stay.
