I'm not going to rush...
Liked: Staff were helpful when available
Disliked: The hotel itself has potential, but there were a few things that didn't sit right with me. Staffing felt quite limited. It's genuinely a bit of a maze. It seemed to be assumed that guests just knew where to go, but clearer guidance would have been helpful.Be aware that there are steep steps throughout the hotel, many without handrails—which I found quite dangerous. Signage was also very poor (or just not there in most areas), which didn’t help matters. On the plus side, the food was lovely, but it did take quite a while to come out, and prices felt steep compared to similar hotels and restaurants nearby. One final point to be aware of: there's a credit card hold taken at check-in for any potential damage. That might’ve been in the small print, so I’ll hold my hands up there, howver the way it was phrased at reception felt really uncomfortable. It would have landed much better if it was framed as covering room charges, rather than suggesting guests might cause damage.Overall, a few tweaks to communication, accessibility, and guest experience would go a long way.

Utiliatrian hotel
Liked: Restaurant and staff especially the lady at breakfast
Disliked: The main building is very tired and needs a makeover. The bath tap/shower mixer in Room 5 didn’t work, had to get maintenance to run it off as it jammed on. The rooms look old fashioned. The gym equipment is old.

Pleasant overnight stay in Georgian...
Liked: Hotel set in pleasant grounds with golf course. Lovely old building. That did mean no lift. Room was nice with good size bath and shower. Bathroom seemed to have been recently done. No way of opening the window or A/C so got a little stuffy. TV was fine for me but a small screen which some might struggle to see well. Bed comfortable though I was over the bar so some noise and I could hear the music - it would depend on what room you had.Breakfast was set in the restaurant with good views of the grounds. Good selection for continental breakfast and cooked breakfast to order. Large car park. Though I didn't use it I was given free access to the leisure facilities which is a plus.
Disliked: I would have liked a way to open the window - though thankfully the weather was not too hot. Toilet seat was loose. Location is close the M6 - about 5-10 mins drive but not the nearest hotel.
