One gets what one pays...

Liked: The barman who also seemed to work in the restaurant was very helpful and the price of drinks for a hotel were good, Food while not fancy was wholesome fare and they did not stint on quantity.
Disliked: This is a hotel that in its heyday would have been very grand but despite I think have. been recently refurbished presents as slightly tired. The decor in the bedroom which had I think quite recently been decorated was dark, dark red wall paper with gold motive on one wall and a golden yellow on the other, Dark red carpet with gold motifs dark doors which with a small window make the room very dark. Bathroom was a bit tired . Reception ws random at best, seemed reluctant to print bills and receipts . Got the sums wrong to boot and had to be corrected

The perfect overnight stay

Liked: Our room was lovely and the views from our room were excellent. Special thanks to Teresa in the restaurant who was amazing for our dinner and breakfast. Seeing the red squirrels made our stay
Disliked: There wasn't anything that we didn't like. Everything was perfect for our stay

Liked: If you are walking the coast to coast Trail, do not be fooled by the name Shap Wells hotel. It is quite a ways out of town and unless you have transportation laid on, it is a long distance to add to your walk.
Disliked: Location to the Coast to Coast trail

Liked: Location was quiet and remote surrounded by a very beautiful woods and river.And of course the Red Squirrels.
