The hotel in general was nice and friendly, but when going towards the room I noticed how old fashioned and dated everything looked, like it needed updating from the carpet to the walls. In the room it was clean and tidy but everything was a little dated - it was like going back to the 70's. Personally I prefer a nice crisp clean look in the rooms but this definitely wasn't the case. I think this could be a really lovely hotel as the location is perfect but it needs a good refit. Considering what we paid for the room I was expecting more.

Disappointing for £130

Liked: Comfortable bed
Disliked: Room was a bit dirty around the edges and very tired and shabby, and the shower didn’t drain when used. All of this could be overlooked but the main problem was that it was way too hot which meant it wasn’t a comfortable night despite not being that warm outside. The door in the hallway was loud despite wearing earplugs. My double bed was two singles pushed together but was comfortable enough so wouldn’t necessarily mark it down for that unless that really bothers you. Overall I was really underwhelmed for the price.

Excellent Location!

Liked: The location is spot on for what we wanted to do and we use the same hotel every year so we are never disappointed!
Disliked: Nothing to grumble about as far as we are concerned!

Hotel being spruced up, great...

Liked: Great location near the harbour train station, well positioned for the dockyard and old Portsmouth. Largish hotel, a bit faded but currently undergoing renovation, our rooms had been renovated and were fine with good bathrooms. Buffet-style breakfast did the job.
Disliked: Some public areas are a bit shabby (but being addressed). Our rooms had no air-conditioning and we were there on the hottest day of the year, so we felt it.

Disliked: No Air con in the rooms, we went when the weather was hot, rooms was too hot which made it uncomfortable to sit in your room and sleeping at night
