Royal Maritime Hotel

The hotel in general was nice and friendly, but when going towards the room I noticed how old fashioned and dated everything looked, like it needed updating from the carpet to the walls. In the room it was clean and tidy but everything was a little dated - it was like going back to the 70's. Personally I prefer a nice crisp clean look in the rooms but this definitely wasn't the case. I think this could be a really lovely hotel as the location is perfect but it needs a good refit. Considering what we paid for the room I was expecting more.

Disliked: Very old fashioned.

Great stay for what we...

Liked: Great location near historic harbour and gun wharf. Used it as a base for Victorious so nice 30min walk along seafront to festival. Clean and simple rooms, very nice breakfast.
Disliked: Room slightly more expensive than I’d like but pretty sure every hotel in Portsmouth puts prices up for festival weekend.

Liked: Staff and communal areas were lovely, good breakfast too. Comfy bed.
Disliked: Room (West Wing) were very tired and dated, rust on bathroom pipes just gave a less than clean feeling
