Royal Maritime Hotel

The hotel in general was nice and friendly, but when going towards the room I noticed how old fashioned and dated everything looked, like it needed updating from the carpet to the walls. In the room it was clean and tidy but everything was a little dated - it was like going back to the 70's. Personally I prefer a nice crisp clean look in the rooms but this definitely wasn't the case. I think this could be a really lovely hotel as the location is perfect but it needs a good refit. Considering what we paid for the room I was expecting more.

Liked: Staff friendly, food in the restaurant good portions value for money. Grateful for the upgrade for no extra cost. Central to The Hard, local buses, and Gunwarf. Quiet room, comfortable bed and option of comfort level of pillows on the bed. Heating turned on when cooler/wet weather.
Disliked: Smoke alarm going off at 3.30am because some idiot guest decided to smoke in their room. Telephone in room didn't work.

Liked: We stayed there after getting of a late ferry that was delayed by fog. The hotel was ok. No late drinks or food so just had the drinks & biscuits in the room.
Disliked: Parking was difficult. Only real parking was over the road in a NCP car park

great, central place to stay

Liked: The hotel was in a great central location for the sites and historic dock. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was very clean and comfortable.
