The hotel in general was nice and friendly, but when going towards the room I noticed how old fashioned and dated everything looked, like it needed updating from the carpet to the walls. In the room it was clean and tidy but everything was a little dated - it was like going back to the 70's. Personally I prefer a nice crisp clean look in the rooms but this definitely wasn't the case. I think this could be a really lovely hotel as the location is perfect but it needs a good refit. Considering what we paid for the room I was expecting more.
Liked: Clean as can be considering how old everything is.
Disliked: Very old fashioned.

Brilliant suprise , close to...
Liked: location. price, adjacent to RN Heritage sites, my room was perfect, and I would certainly book again next time I'm in Portsmouth, discounts at the local car park,great experience

Liked: Exceptional staff helpfulness; excellent cleanliness throughout; well-proportioned rooms with desk space and comfortable bed; very good food both in the bar and in the restaurant; Service in the restaurant was really excellent and efficient. We felt well looked-after and valued as guests. The hotel itself is very well situated for local attractions, close to the rail station and Gosport ferry. It is in a 20mph zone, so traffic is not as hectic as elsewhere in the city.
Disliked: Some public areas of the hotel were boisterous at times; I felt the lack of a quieter lounge area (although the rotunda and atrium might have been suitable). After-meal tea was served to some guests as a mug of hot water plus a tea bag, similar to some fast food cafeterias. This is not how tea should be presented after a main meal.

Delightful place for a little...
Liked: Great feel to on the place, ideal location for us as we were visiting the Victory for a dinner. upgraded to the new refurbished wing, it was simply delightful. the breakfast was lovely too.

We were made to feel...
Liked: Breakfast buffet excellent. Room with wetroom fantastic. Super location right in the center of everything. Buses run very often too, Best of all the staff are exceptional. Thank you for a lovely week . we hope to be back very soon.
Disliked: Couldn't fault anything.

Good
Liked: The location was amazing, just so close to what I wanted to visit. Staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem. Breakfast was very good.
Disliked: Couldn't tighten the shower head on the slider. It might have been me doing something wrong. I had dinner there the second night and felt my meal was a little overpriced for what I got.
