Disappointing - 2 out of 5

Julie B, Macomb, MI, visiting Bogarts Cincinnati Fri, 22 August 2014

Liked: Bed was clean but sprayed everything with Lysol.
Disliked: Very old interior; carpets stained in rooms and hallways; bathrooms not updated and dirty; toilet didn't flush well; black hair on towels that was NOT mine; dirty shower curtain and shower and sink had dirty black caulk (room 922). Stayed on Tuesday 8-19-14 to Wed 8-20-14 and looked like we were the only guests. Man at desk was very rude about issues - offered to switch our rooms but I told him of our schedule and said it wasn't feasible. Asked for a discount - he said no and I could just check out. I had 2 young girls with me - will report to Cincinnati BBB.

So disappointed! And MAD!

Liked: Nothing at all!
Disliked: The hotel needed renovations and needs cleaned! It was nasty and things like the shower door handles, toilet paper holder, and lamps were broken or falling apart. The swimming pool was terrible and the water was milky like it hasn't been cleaned in a month. The pool was in such bad condition I had to make my kids get straight back out after my daughter getting a bad cut on her foot from the bottom of the pool. There was trash in the hall and literally in the floor of the elevator (a half full bag of chips and other random papers) and it wasn't like they didn't no it laid in there a entire day! This place was terrible!!!!!

Will never be staying at...

Liked: The room itself wasn't that bad for the money. It was just when leaving it the issues started.
Disliked: To say I?m unhappy with my stay would be a bit of an understatement. The first night of me being there, someone smoking in the hotel set the fire alarm off at 2:30 am. Obviously being very startled and scared by this so early in the morning I got dressed and made my way out of my room to the nearest fire exit from the 8th floor. When I reached the second floor, I was shocked to see 4 other guests coming back up the fire escape. I asked them what they were doing as obviously they should be leaving the building. They then informed me that they were ?unable to open the fire door? on the ground level, as something was obstructing the door. Now at this point, i do not know the cause of the fire alarm. So become quite fearful at the fact that I may be in a building, that?s on fire, with no fire exit. We all quickly discuss that there must be a parallel fire exit on the other side of the building. We have to then get off on the second floor, walk through that level to reach the open fire exit on the other side of the building. Now I appreciate that it?s not the hotels fault that someone was smoking. But as I could smell marijuana coming from someone?s room on my floor the next night. And the debacle about fire exits. It?s fair to say I didn?t sleep well that night. If the hotel is going to accept these people in, then the least they can do for me is provide a legitimate exit for me if something goes wrong! I tried staying out of the hotel as much as I could on my trip. However when I returned Sunday evening after a long day out. I enter the elevator to find blood on the floor. I?m honestly not one to normally complain or review, but the dangerous nature of the fire escape experience combined with the feelings that it provoked, and the unsanitary conditions during the middle of a global pandemic, i felt it important other people should know.

Liked: The staff at this hotel couldn't have been nicer. They were extremely helpful and just plain nice. I believe the young ladies name was Jenny or Jennifer, and they are very lucky to have her working there. We also had the privilege of interacting with who I believe was a manager and he also was very polite.
Disliked: It just wasn't the cleanest of hotels. The beds were clean though.
