Disliked: Dear Paramount Hotel times square Management,I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to follow up on a formal complaint we submitted during our stay from June 13th to June 21st at your property in Times Square, New York City.As outlined in our previous message, we experienced ongoing and unresolved issues with the air-conditioning in our room, which began on the 18th and persisted throughout the last days of stay. Despite multiple reports and visits from your engineering staff, the problem was never fully resolved. The air-conditioning unit would temporarily work after a technician reset the circuit breaker, but would consistently shut off again within a few hours—often during the night, significantly affecting our rest and comfort. We were also surprised and disappointed by one of the responses we received from your team, which suggested we leave the window open overnight as an alternative. Given the high noise levels in Times Square, this was clearly not a viable or reasonable solution, especially in the summer heat.Additionally, we incurred extra international call charges, as we were forced to make repeated phone calls to your front desk from our Australian mobile service, due to the in-room phone being non-functional. One of those calls lasted over seven minutes, during which we were assured that help was on the way—yet, on several occasions, no one ever followed up.We also became aware that other guests on our floor were facing the same issue, suggesting this was not an isolated technical fault but rather a broader facilities failure. Unfortunately, despite our patience and repeated communication, the issue remained unresolved, resulting in significant discomfort, loss of sleep, and stress during what should have been an enjoyable international trip.

Some Nice Things, But Not...
Liked: The location is wonderful -- steps away from Times Square, close to all that is exciting, fun, and delicious about NYC. In spite of being in the bustling center our room was very quiet as were the hallways, and there was no noise from adjoining rooms. There was a wonderful cafe off the main lobby, several nice places to grab a snack or a slice within a few steps from the front door, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Disliked: If you're going to stay in an old hotel in Times Square you should expect some grit. Having said that, we found just a bit too much grit for our taste. Our air conditioning unit was rusted, there was quite a bit of mold in our bathroom -- the shower head was covered in mold as was the grout around the built in tile soap cubby. The bathroom was tiny and our toilet was set at a weird angle so that your knees hit the wall. There were numerous small broken items, such as the switch plates that should have been replaced. I awoke one night to find a spring (?) from our mattress jabbing me in the thigh. There was almost no space to store your belongings or to organize and sort your things. Our biggest complaint, however was the elevators. Of four elevators one was broken the entire week we stayed. A second elevator was down for one day. On the day we checked out only two elevators were working. Although we were high up -- on the 11th floor -- we had to wait for a car with enough space to accommodate three people through SEVEN cycles. There were about 10 people in our hall waiting and it was hot and humid. Once we got inside the broiling elevator car, it had to stop on every floor so that yet more people could be unable to board. While waiting on the 11th floor, I called the front desk to tell them that they needed to send someone up to escort people to the freight elevator and the person on the other end of the line was unintelligible, so I hung up. Was this the worst hotel stay ever? No. Could I recommend it or book it again? No.
