Fantastic hotel with outstanding staff...

Liked: The hotel was outstanding in every way but unfortunately located in a very run down part of the city with no transport links other than Uber taxis (which were very cheap gladly as we used them every day!)
Disliked: The hotel was an oasis within a cultural desert but you got used to it!

Liked: Fitness centre didn't meet my expectation very limited equipment unfortunately - Manager and staff very helpful and tried to resolve the situation.
Disliked: The fitness centre, although it was a nice space it had limited equipment, for the overall cost of staying at a 5 star hotel I definitely expect a lot more.

Liked: The historical building is nice, the staff were courteous.
Disliked: Unfortunately the hotel is quite simply not a 5*. This would be an excellent 4* property, but nowhere near 5.- The rooms are small, and cheaply made. The suite is big with a big terrace but the deluxe room is very small for a 5*. The fitout is poor, you can tell the quality is simply not there in the material, the finishing and the furniture.- the rooms have either a poor fresh air supply system, or don’t have one. Regardless of the AC it quickly becomes stuffy and clammy in the rooms.- the rooms were in the modern extension. A concrete shell with no character whatsoever with none of the “palatial” character of the property. (For clarity, I’m an architect and I develop hotels; I love bare structures, but this is simply a poor one)- The small rooms don’t even have a nespresso machine (the suite does), and you are provided with a bag of soluble nescafe…- The shower doors don’t close properly, so you flood the floor. The reusable dispensers throughout. Good for sustainability but poor value. The shower- the gym is minuscule and poor equipment, both quality and quantity- the reception is extremely tight and there is no arrival experience as you need to walk in with your bags around the courtyard and into the lobby.- they take payment on arrival even though they take a guarantee card- they then brought a POS in the room with the room service… (is this a joke? What are going to do, run in the middle of the night with my 70 year old father to avoid paying 20 bucks after having spent 2k in a couple nights for the rooms?)- breakfast has a poor offering- the pool is a very small plunge in a very constricted courtyard.- housekeeping knocked incessantly multiple times every morning even though we asked them to return later; there was no dnd in the room to hang and we had to ask for it.- if this was not enough, they decided to pressure clean the concrete courtyard 9am right under the balconies.

Brilliant stay and would definitely...

Liked: The location was out of the tourist hustle and bustle but in easy reach of it which was great.
Disliked: The bed was quite hard.
