Loved the historic English feel,...

Liked: We loved the historic, English feel of the hotel. It’s in a handy location, close to the town centre and easy to get around. A good size room and comfortable bed.
Disliked: Coach loads of people were at the hotel and the hotel seemed understaffed to deal with the numbers when we arrived and later when we visited the bar. We were also disappointed not to be able to have dinner in the hotel. We did not understand that we needed to have booked half board to do so. Walking the streets of Bournemouth looking for a restaurant was not appealing.

Ignore the negative reviews

Liked: Incredibly clean.
Disliked: Rather noisy at night. On the day of my arrival I was so looking forward to using the pool facilities but sadly was not allowed as they said there was no lifeguard.

If you like hotel Breakfasts...

Liked: We are a young family who have to select from hotels now that offer family rooms, so this place looks good from its staged photos and reviews, but in reality its poor and we’d advise against it, particularly if you have modern standards.Positives:If the theme is ‘old worldy hotel’, then on the surface it looks quaint. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. They had a bunk bed for children alongside our bed which was good as usually offering seem to be a sofa bed.
Disliked: Negatives: 2nd class citizens to coach partiesWe were marched out of the breakfast room at 7:40am as we weren’t allowed to sit there as “all the tables were booked”. We weren’t informed we could reserve tables on checking in. Yet we were told it was booked for a coach party, so we were moved to a dire side room with the staff. Quality of breakfast is poor: We were asked if we wanted a hot drinks, but the only option for coffee was granulated. Whilst I don’t always expect a frapalapachino (speciality coffee), not having a filter coffee machine or a french press is zero star.We looked at the juice options in jugs, none fresh all concentrated. Next to fake poor quality crossiants from the cash and carry. No buffet choice options, we had to order from a small menu and the breakfast we observed on a plate was the most rubbish processed fry up with the poorest ingredients we’ve seen. For us, the best part of a hotel stay is the breakfast but we couldn’t let our children eat that muck. nor would they give us a refund for the breakfast component we did not want on the spot. Areas for improvement:- shower was very strong and either hot or cold.- The tv was old and had no ‘smart tv’ options i.e netflix etc- We expect coffee machines in bedrooms nowadays- Hotels that aspire to 3/4 star typically come with the option of proper coffee choices. Those that don’t are truck stops. - The place needs a good clean. The glasshouse area on entry from the car park smells- The swimming pool is dirty so we didn’t use it as were worried about hygiene. - The door from the car park is broken so it is inaccessible to families with wheelchairs- All customers should be treated equally and breakfast first come first served as everywhere else- Improve food quality, at least have a buffet,

We had a brilliant stay...

Liked: The location of the the hotel was perfect to the restaurants and shops then 10mins walk to the beach. We had a breakfast on our last day and the staff were very friendly and accomodating. I spend my birthday with my family and we had a great time in their pool. Thanks Booking.com for the £16 and I considered it as my bday gift.
Disliked: Not really but the only think we noticed that there were few sellotaped on the wall near the ceiling of our bed. Maybe to cover some damages but it doesn't bother us.
