upset from security

Disliked: I have a special and series health condition and I have asked receaption for doctor and security. Then, After two days recaption call me to paid 500 € as a fine for the noise happen. However, the reception try to explned for the security but he forced me to paied. As Anantara we expected to support as in our situation but we shocked as to pay this fine.

Liked: Location was key and the staff were nice.
Disliked: We paid extra for the breakfast as reading reviews we’ve been told the breakfast is legendary. Much to my wife’s disappointment who is a decaf coffee drinker the Hotel couldn’t supply a nice decaf coffee. The only coffee they could supply as a decaffeinated coffee was instant coffee which I think for a hotel of this caliber is not acceptable, Amsterdam has some great pancake restaurants. It would’ve been nice to have had some fresh pancakes for breakfast instead of heated up shop bought pancakes especially when they were making fresh waffles. Also in my opinion, we both felt the breakfast could’ve been hotter. If I was to stay again I would not book the breakfast. I would go out to eat which I feel would also be better value.Also another incident which we weren’t happy about a bottle of Moet and Chandon champagne had been left in our room as we were to celebrating our silver wedding anniversary we assumed this was complimentary from the hotel as there was no note. We later found out it was our goddaughter who had sent it when we challenge the hotel they actually tried to pass the champagne off as they had sent it complementary as you can imagine we were not very happy. We gave them an opportunity to explain what happened to the note, but they never came back to us!

Quite good overall.

Liked: Location was excellent. Room size was good. Bed was comfortable
Disliked: Was disappointed that the room faced a building directly so we had to keep the curtains closed at all times. Pillows were too soft.

Liked: Great location in the heart of Dam Square. Excellent customer service from a very helpful team.
Disliked: 5 star rated hotel should have table service for breakfast rather than buffet. We had a premium room with a view of Dam Square, great view but very noisy with windows open. Lighting overall was a bit subdued for our liking
