The Spotlight on Moxy by Marriott NYC Downtown

Playful Vibes in the Heart of Downtown NYC

Modern, edgy, and full of character, Moxy by Marriott NYC Downtown brings an energetic, youthful twist to Manhattan’s Financial District. With a vibrant 5,000 sq. ft. bar and lounge featuring old-school arcade games and even a basketball court, this hotel is more than just a place to crash—it's part of the experience. Located steps from major subway lines and within walking distance to iconic NYC music venues, it’s a solid base for your next concert trip.

Why Concert-goers love it

If you're planning to catch a show downtown or hop over to Brooklyn, you’ll love how close the hotel is to the Fulton Street subway station—just 361 feet away. That means quick late-night rides home from concerts, even after the encore. The rooms are soundproofed enough to give you a break from the city buzz, and the 24-hour front desk makes late check-ins easy. Plus, the social vibe in the lounge makes it great for pre-show hangs.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a fun, interactive space to stay
  • Solo travelers chasing big-name artists in the city
  • Couples making a weekend of live music and city exploring
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery—the rooms are surprisingly peaceful
  • Budget-conscious music fans who still want a stylish, central spot

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s lounge offers all-day coffee, cocktails, and bites, and it’s a great spot to fuel up before or wind down after a show. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the neighborhood is full of walkable late-night food options, especially around Fulton Street. For those sleeping in after a night out, there are plenty of nearby cafés offering breakfast and brunch.

Nightlife Options

While there’s no live music on-site, the lounge has a party-friendly vibe with games and drinks flowing. You're also just a quick subway ride or walk from Lower East Side bars, Tribeca lounges, and even Brooklyn’s indie music scenes. It’s a solid launchpad for nightlife beyond the venue.

What People Say

Guests love the unique lounge space, calling it “a fun and social hub,” and appreciate the modern, tech-forward rooms with automated controls. Reviewers often mention the great location for exploring NYC and the “super helpful” staff. It’s especially popular with younger travelers and those seeking something a little different than your standard hotel stay.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are on the smaller side—this is NYC, after all—so don’t expect to spread out too much. There’s also no on-site restaurant for full meals, though the local dining scene more than makes up for it. Some guests mention the social spaces can get lively, so light sleepers might want to pack earplugs just in case.

The Bottom Line

A fun, stylish, and super-convenient choice for concert-goers who want more than just a bed—Moxy NYC Downtown brings the energy of the city right to your stay.

Very good

Liked: The hotel was in a great situation. Rooms were clean and modern although quite small. Staff were really friendly although check in was delayed (room not ready!) and check out I wasn’t offered either a paper or emailed invoice outlining my extra room charges. It’s a nice hotel but I think next time I’d stay somewhere where description of ‘breakfast included’ is more accurate. Only partly included - if you have 2 teenage children!!
Disliked: Breakfast was nice! But there’s a catch re cost. So be warned! You get to order one item from the menu. You can add to that with apparently a $15 supplement per room. Coffee is included but not a latte. You pay $8 from your supplant for that. As a result (as portions aren’t big), breakfast can cost quite a lot more. So to say breakfast is included needs some better clarification.Extra room charges (we only had a couple drinks charged to our rooms) and these breakfast charges were eventually charged at $200 per room despite check out telling me they were about $70 or so. I still have not been emailed a final invoice despite requesting one 5 days after our visit and charges appeared on my bank. In fact the hotel has not replied to any of my messages for that time. Be careful of these extra charges! It’s not clear with this $15 supplement you get what if applies to!!!!

Pleasant

Liked: The location is nice. But the 3 floor lobby gets overcrowded with private functions
Disliked: The Lobby which should be a space for guest had a private function for around 100 to 150 people. This ment there is only extremely limited/almost no space for guests. I sat at a table that wasn't booked and was moved to the basketball court. The aircon wasn't working properly which made sleeping extremely hard in the current heat wave. The breakfast menu is lack luster. If you pay for breakfast dont expect to get a flatwhite coffee with out paying extra.

A Fun Social Hotel in...

Liked: Great location, pretty friendly staff, the bar floor with a large sitting area, free games, and a small basketball court make it perfect for indoor activities between outdoor ones and in a bad weather day. They are also very kind with little surprises, like $15 daily balance for food/drinks.
Disliked: The elevator smelled like cigarettes even though it's a non-smoking hotel
