not enjoyable, did not come...
Liked: Loved the off-licence next door with great service. Hotel bedroom was spacious but dark as it needed more lighting. Restaurant 'The Timberwolf' was very good, staff very friendly and efficient
Disliked: On the morning of 24 August, we noticed that there was a workman in the doorway of the room next door so at reception I asked why and was told there was nothing to be concerned about. Workmen were accessing bedroom door locks and I should not be concerned but I asked again about security, to be told the men were only doing the door locks. As far as I am aware, these men would have full access to our bedroom whilst we were out and left us feeling vulnerable. On our return to the hotel, later that day, we tried to get into our room only to find that access was barred so had to return to front desk where we were told that a new key card had to be given. I would have thought that good practice would be for reception to have placed a polite notice at the front desk, advising guests that they would need to get new key cards cut before walking all the way to bedroom.Having received the new card, we returned to bedroom to find that the room had not been serviced - garbage bin full, wet towels, unmade bed. So we once again, returned to reception desk where we were told that we should have asked for a room clean which we definitely were not told about on check-in. There is no written evidence in the room or at reception that this service had to be requested. Of course, housekeeping had finished for the day, we could not refresh ourselves and had to get out for dinner. After a conversation with duty manager, we left our wet towels outside of our bedroom and went out for dinner returning to find that the duty manager had collected these wet towels but not placed the dry ones, outside our door. So, we had gone to our room and then had to go back down to reception to ask for fresh towels - exasperating to say the least. This was ridiculous. I have written twice to Ms Bliss, Manager but she has not had the grace to respond. The desk staff require training in customer facing techniques and problem solving.
