Liked: Everything - a wonderful historical place with a lot of character. It is clean and tidy with a wonderful attentive staff, nice food and set in a beautiful location.
Disliked: There was nothing that I did not like about the hotel.

Liked: The staff were so friendly and helpful. The building is amazing. Very old and with loads of character. Retaining its original charm and maintaining a good level of comfort. The food was good. Loved it

Liked: The room was nice, clean and comfortable and the breakfast was a great way to start each day. The property/building itself is also very nice. We used it as a base to explore parts of the lake district and for that purpose it was great.

Bad

Disliked: Having booked to stay 1 night in a double/twin deluxe room as advertised, I was allocated a very different room to what I had booked. A cold, dirty & extremely rundown room where the windows didn't open giving me concerns re fire safety The room itself, in my opinion was more like I was visiting a museum and unfit for sleeping in. Dirty sink in bathroom. The furniture, drapes, carpet and bedding all felt and looked old and musty which after being in this awful room for just over an hour I knew I had no choice but to leave the hotel and return home disheartened. The following day I did email the hotel directly with my concerns and their response as follows was appalling - "You chose not to discuss anything with us and are now attempting to blackmail us into refunding your money. Company policy is that we do not accept threats so will now pass your email on to our legal team for them to deal with. I will also be flagging your behaviour on the Booking.com extranet that other hotel providers use. You will hear from our legal team directly." This is my 1st ever review as think it is only right that others need to know how a weekend break can go horribly wrong.
