Lovely stay

Liked: The hotel was lovely, staff were so helpful. Great continental buffet. Location perfect.
Disliked: The balcony in Room 2 is very, very small.

Excellent hotel but missed a...

Liked: The hotel.was excellent from start to finish. Lovely location on the front. Very clean. Staff very professional, but friendly. Room had a lovely balcony & seaview. Bed was huge & very comfortable. Booked a superior room with seaview. Lovely touches, umbrella in room!
Disliked: Tiles in bathroom on th floor missing grouting. So, it looked as if dirty, but in a bathroom, open to infection. A small fridge in the room would be a good idea as bottles of water were provided but in hot weather warmI overheard car park spaces were tight, but we arrived by train, so we didn't use.The continental breakfast was veryl good, but my partner missed a cooked breakfast when away on a break. The coffee provided was in small mugs and had to ask for more, a pod coffee machine used! But Tea was provided in a teapot and large mugs. A jug of coffee or cafetiere would have been better. Boiled eggs were soft cooked but cold.

Poor, expensive, dangerous, sleepless stay

Disliked: Rooms are not as good as detailed on website. We were given room 20 on ground floor. Looked on to a brick wall and concrete steps which lead to a cellar/basenent. Probably the worst place I’ve stayed in in my 60 years of travel. Dirty shower tray with glass sliding doors not attached to a lower rail. Swinging in the breeze. No management to speak to. Poor girl in breakfast room managing everything. Continental breakfast was good. Breakfast served 7.30 - 10 am. We were awake at 5.30 as staff working in the kitchen operating microwaves and getting breakfast area ready for residents was next door. So noisy. Had about four hours sleep. Do not book. Rooms 19/20 are off a main corridor on the ground floor - obviously given to booking.com clients as you do not book direct through Mode Hotel group. I have stayed in a ‘chain’ hotel who are more than half the price of this place and received 100% better. Avoid!
