Terrible very disappointing and definitely...

Liked: The location of the Hotel
Disliked: The standard of the room was very poor with a water stained ceiling. There was no bar! only a temporary area with a limited selection of bottled drinks. There was a temporary area allocated as a restaurant this was very poor with worn-out seating. The standard of evening meal was very poor the trout was very overcooked as was the buffet breakfast which was one of the worst I have experienced.

Liked: The new rooms were very comfortable and clean. Had all we needed. Staff were lovely
Disliked: We ate dinner in the restaurant and sadly felt quite unwell the next day. Also, over priced and not that pleasant. We opted out of breakfast the next morning due to this.

Liked: The staff were excellent. The restaurant staff especially. The location and history of Letchworth hall. The service is always good.
Disliked: The hotel benefits from an upgrade but it is not in keeping with the ancient and distinguished building dating from the 13th century. This is the primary asset. For example, the banqueting hall which once attracted visitors for afternoon tea and rest and relaxation is now an ultra modern bar area which appears grotesque.The restaurant now feels like a waiting room with bright fluorescent strip lighting. No longer a convivial place with ambiance and romance.

Exceptional

Liked: Beautiful hotel, perfect location for our needs
Disliked: Building work was going on so a lot was closed down but did not concern us as it was a base and we were warned prior

Great Value for money

Liked: The staff were excellent both in thr hotel and the restaurant
Disliked: Construction work being carried out as you might expect not a real problem but didn't get to see most of the communal rooms

Cold shower was very disappointing

Disliked: Cold shower, stale breakfast on first day, furnishing falling off walls

It’s a lot of money...

Liked: Location and stay quite regular
Disliked: No hot water, Works going on but no instruction the reception had moved it’s a lot of money for one night with no facilities to shower!

Not great.

Disliked: No hot water, room smelt like sewage, damp & mouldy in the bathroom, and around the air con. Springy beds, just not what I’d expected. Will be making a formal complaint with more details.
