The Spotlight on Mercure Glasgow City Hotel

Central Comfort Just Minutes from Glasgow’s Music Scene

Modern and conveniently located, the Mercure Glasgow City Hotel places you right in the beating heart of Glasgow. Set on Ingram Street just a few steps from the bustling high street, this city-centre stay offers a no-fuss, comfortable base with free WiFi, flat-screen TVs, and an on-site bar and café. With both Queen Street and Central Station within a 5-minute walk, it’s a top pick for visitors wanting easy access to the city’s buzzing nightlife and legendary concert venues.

Why Concert-goers love it

You can’t beat the location — just a short walk or quick cab ride to Glasgow’s biggest venues, whether you're heading to an arena show or a more intimate gig. The hotel’s 24-hour room service is a huge win for late-night returns, and the nearby stations make getting in and out of the city a breeze. Despite being in the city centre, rooms are surprisingly quiet, offering a calm retreat after a loud night out. Check-in starts from 15:00, so there’s time to freshen up before heading to the show, and a relaxed 11:00 check-out gives you a bit of a lie-in the next day.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends wanting to explore Glasgow before and after the gig
  • Solo travelers catching a must-see artist
  • Couples turning a concert into a weekend escape
  • Fans who need a quiet space to recharge post-show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who don’t want to skimp on location

Food and Drink Options

You’ll find a stylish bar and café on-site, perfect for pre-gig drinks or a quick bite. 24/7 room service means you can grab a snack whenever you return. Breakfast is available and ideal for those moving a bit slower the morning after. Plus, being in the city centre, you’re surrounded by pubs, cafes, and late-night eats within walking distance.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, you’re steps away from Glasgow’s buzzing bar scene. From trendy cocktail lounges to classic pubs, there’s something for every vibe. Or enjoy a relaxed drink at the hotel’s own bar with a more low-key, post-concert feel.

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s prime location and friendly staff. Many reviews mention how easy it is to get to and from concert venues. The rooms are described as clean and comfortable, with praise for the good value for money and efficient check-in process — a big plus when you’re on a tight schedule.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that rooms can be a bit on the smaller side, and the decor is fairly simple — but for concert-goers who won’t be spending much time indoors, it does the job just fine. Parking can be tricky as there’s no on-site lot, but public transport is excellent.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers wanting a central, affordable, and comfortable base in Glasgow, Mercure Glasgow City Hotel hits all the right notes.

Good location, rooms small, lacked...

Liked: The locations was good. The person working at the breakfast area today was amazing with my semi disabled friend. He went the extra mile and feel bad i didn't get his name. He was the only highlight of our stay.
Disliked: Rooms too small, lacked facilities and plug use terrible. Rooms small and hot no way to allow in air, unable to open windows not even a fan available in the rooms!Breakfast a shambles, no food left when a party of six came down. Had to wait a long time for food to be put out. Food station unclean and disorganised. Sorry excuse for some of the food provided the sausages were pink and wasn't noticed until someone had eaten one and someone pointed it out. They have since had persistent diarrhea. Shameful to serve undercooked food as we had a heavily pregnant person in our group, so very unsafe. Not being told at check in that the doors would be locked at night and not being told how to get in. Pressed the bell and on one at the desk until after 5 mins leaving us thinking we may not get back in. Won't be returning.

Staff nice, breakfast good, over...

Liked: The location is fantastic and the breakfast was good with a good choice
Disliked: We have stayed here twice for the location and we book a year in advance, so you can imagine when we get to our room it’s very small. We didn’t have air con and if the window was open the street noise kept you awake, we did hear that the rooms are to be refurbished which will be good as a bit dated, but not sure it’s worth the money we paid for two nights. Very small rooms.
