Liked: Charming period property kept in excellent taste. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom large and clean. The staff was helpful and welcoming.

We had a lovely stay...

Liked: We absolutely loved the main home and the Amberson House, where we stayed. The interior woodwork and stained glass windows are beautiful.
Disliked: I understand they want to keep the flower beds beautiful but those high pitch deer repellent things are annoying.

Adequate but far from luxury....

Liked: Location and nice architecture
Disliked: Indifferent staff at points . AC was barely working and nothing was done

My preferred hotel when visiting...

Liked: Walking distance to Carnegie Mellon, Shady Side, with a historical ambience inside and out.
Disliked: We have stayed there twice now and will stay there again if we can book it! The last time we were there they were not offering a cooked breakfast which was too bad. I hope it was just a seasonal thing and not permanent.

Good for the night I...

Liked: Mansions on Fifth is in a great location near Carnegie Mellon and UPitt. The neighborhood is also inviting and walkable. The property itself has a beautiful interior and my room had a very comfortable bed.
Disliked: The young man who checked me out was not entirely friendly. Could have been because he was a student and just doing the job part time but it did sour my stay a little.
