The Spotlight on Malmaison Birmingham

Chic and Central: A Stylish Base in Birmingham’s Mailbox

Malmaison Birmingham is a sleek, contemporary hotel tucked inside the buzzing Mailbox development – one of the city’s top spots for shopping, dining, and nightlife. With its stylish design, mood-lit rooms, and on-site spa, it’s a luxurious yet convenient choice for anyone heading to a concert in Birmingham.
You'll find free Wi-Fi, a satellite TV, and a power shower in every room, plus a modern gym and same-day laundry service – ideal for freshening up after a long night out. The hotel blends comfort and atmosphere, making it a standout stay close to the city’s top venues.

Why Concert-goers love it

Malmaison is just a 10-minute walk from Birmingham New Street Station, making it easy to catch late-night trains or hop in a cab after a show. It's also steps from some of the city’s biggest music venues and nightlife spots, while the soundproofed rooms offer a peaceful escape when you're ready to wind down. A 3pm check-in gives plenty of time to settle in before the gig, and the 11am checkout means you can sleep in a bit afterwards.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends who want to explore Birmingham’s nightlife before and after the show
  • Solo travelers catching a legendary act
  • Couples making a weekend of it with spa time and fine dining
  • Fans looking to relax with a quieter post-concert recovery in a plush setting
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want a touch of luxury

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s Brasserie serves up modern British cuisine made with local produce, and there’s a stylish bar with a wine tasting room run by knowledgeable sommeliers. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the central location means late-night eateries are just steps away. Breakfast is served on-site – ideal for a post-concert lie-in and a hearty start to the day.

Nightlife Options

Guests can enjoy a pre-show drink or a nightcap in the hotel’s chic bar, or take a stroll through the Mailbox’s array of upmarket bars and lounges. While there isn’t on-site live music, the hotel is within walking distance of Birmingham’s best music venues and nightlife hotspots.

What People Say

Guests rave about the upbeat atmosphere, attentive staff, and superb location. Many love the spa and gym facilities as a way to unwind, and the spacious rooms with mood lighting get high marks for style and comfort. Reviews often highlight the ease of access to restaurants, transport, and venues.

Areas for Improvement

The hotel’s vibrant setting within the Mailbox can mean a bit of hustle and bustle outside, especially on weekends. Some guests note that corridors can get a little noisy, and the lack of 24-hour room service might be a small downside for late-night snackers.

The Bottom Line

Malmaison Birmingham is a stylish, centrally located hotel that offers comfort, convenience, and atmosphere – perfect for concert-goers looking to enjoy the city in style.

Liked: Large, clean room which was ready when we arrived so we were able to check in early. Great position - near the railway, the Utilita Arena and the canal.

Well worth it.

Liked: Every staff member was super friendly and helpful. A special mention goes to the bar (manager?) on the evening of the 6th of July who remained incredibly composed despite a very rude customer trying to cause trouble (and mixed some fantastic cocktails for us). Everything was clean and the room was a lot bigger than expected.
Disliked: The only negative is a minor design flaw. I was woken numerous times by bedroom doors seeming to slam and put it down to inconsiderate fellow guests. However, when I left the room in the morning, I realised it is simply impossible to close the doors quietly. Even allowing for them being fire doors, I wish they weren't so loud as I'm a very light sleeper!

Passable

Disliked: Room wasn't ready for our 12pm arrival and when we did get a room, someone was already in it. Which led for a very uncomfortable encounter, walking in on a strange man. The manager did give me a 50% discount but I wouldn't stay here again.
