Very good

Liked: Staff, food, location and hotel in general. Our dog who unexpectedly had to go with us was treated like royalty during our stay, by staff and locals :)
Disliked: We werent told until arrival that our room was not en-suite, there was a toilet in the room but we had to go to another floor in the hotel for our shower. This shower was exclusive to us and not used by other guests.

Nice main hotel, not thrilled...

Liked: Attractive old main building, village setting, friendly staff.
Disliked: Impossible to either park in the hotel carpark or to find anywhere safe to park in road nearby. Room was a modern “motel-style” one looking straight out onto the busy carpark so I had to keep the curtains closed to get any privacy.

Quirky, charming, lovely staff and...

Liked: Old place, nicely modernised. I had a rather lovely attic room but with low beams that were a bit of a danger. Also I did not realise I had booked a room with a private shower room - on the floor below! (I had my own loo en-suite). but that was fine, and it was therefore a competitvely priced room, but do check that when you book. staff were great and the food was really very good. It is not 'pub grub' - a 2 course menu with four choices at each course was £30. The sourdough bread from the bakery round the corner was amazing, the beef, with onion and potato terrine and bordelais sauce was pretty much Michelin standard, as was the lemon and lime meringue pie. there is a serous chef at work here. The special menu nights look amazing too - I think the desired positioning is as a very good 'restaurant with rooms' rather than a pub or a hotel. Location - pleasant village, country walks, interesting churchyard and 400 yards from Mallory Park (motor racing)!
Disliked: the beams I kep bumping my head on!

Cosy place right next to...

Liked: Julie was brilliant with checking us in and manning the bar and dining area. The room was comfortable and there is ample parking area. The food was impressive with a load of flavour. It’s really close to Mallory Park circuit.
Disliked: Music though played very mildly on low volume in the dining area below permeates into the rooms because of the acoustics (you can feel the beats in the room)
