Vivienne, Birmingham, visiting Forum Birmingham Tue, 16 August 2022

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights as we wanted to visit Birmingham as well as attend the show at the Forum. We chose this hotel because of it's location. The facilities were adequate. Unfortunately, we had to use the service lift as the customer lift was out of order. There were enough choices for breakfast, which was included. There was no air conditioning in our room but they provided us with a fan. The staff were helpful and polite. We would stay there again.

Liked: The location of the hotel was perfect.
Disliked: There was no allocated parking for the hotel.

Avoid at all costs

Liked: Location
Disliked: Terrible stay. Staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful. The room had a stained carpet and rubbish in the bathroom from the previous guest. When I told the receptionist, she was incredibly rude and blamed me for not reporting it sooner, no apology at all! I also left an item behind when I checked out. The same rude lady called me three times insisting I hadn’t left anything. But as soon as I filed a complaint with Booking.com, they magically "found" it.

Liked: The room was spacious and the facilities were adequate for a comfortable night's stay. The location was perfect for commuting between Birmingham and London. Good for a short stay!
Disliked: The room could have used a bit more natural light but this wasn't a dealbreaker for me based on general comfort level.

Disappointing and embarrassing if you...

Liked: The Staff were excellent. They were friendly and helpful.
Disliked: The room did not meet expectations. I had booked a suite, anticipating a high standard of comfort and amenities, but unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The sofas in the seating area were extremely uncomfortable, being very hard and lacking cushioning. Additionally, the air conditioning was disabled for maintenance, and I was unable to adjust any of the settings. The double bed consisted of two single beds pushed together, which frequently separated during the night, making it difficult to share comfortably. The bedding was also subpar, featuring a scratchy, inexpensive throw. The bathroom was noticeably smaller than depicted in the images for the premium rooms. Given the significant cost of the room, I anticipated a more spacious and modern bathroom, but this was not the case. The coffee machine provided only one pod of each flavor, despite the room being booked for two guests, which was inconvenient. Furthermore, the robes supplied were quite small and unlikely to fit anyone of average size comfortably. The breakfast, which was described as a highlight, was also disappointing. Upon ordering scrambled eggs, I was served powdered eggs, which did not meet expectations for a premium offering.Overall, I felt that the suite did not justify the premium price paid. I was quite disappointed, especially after seeing rooms advertised as suites with specific features and amenities. Walking through the hallways, I was excited to see rooms labelled as suites that resembled those on the website, but my room had the feel of a standard room with only a number on the door without a suite name. When I inquired at reception, I was assured it was a suite, but I expected it to be of a higher standard for the cost.
