Poor - 1.5 out of 5

Poor

Liked: It's difficult to make any positive comments. We were very appreciative of a quiet room however that room, 26, was ultimately a disgrace,. The decoration was appalling, the curtains un-usable, the window had no catch and it was far too small for 2 people to survive in. In contrast the breakfast room was good as was the breakfast itself, the room was cleanish, the bed was comfortable but very cramped, the tight bathroom facilities all worked and along with the staircase there was an air of improvements being done.
Disliked: See above

Never again! Smallest room ever!!...

Liked: Location was good for overnight transfer to Eurostar
Disliked: Entrance and general areas were dirty and cramped. Renovation work materials were stacked along ground floor corridor (fire safety risk?). Breakfast was included but simply stacking cereal boxes and having an urn and coffee pot (which, when emptied was not refilled!) No staff visible at breakfast to guide or clear tables. Elevator was “not working” and looks like it hasn’t for some time! Desk clerk expected us to carry our cases up 3 sets of narrow stairs with a number of self closing fire doors to manage. He eventually agreed to carry one case but I had to carry the second case all the way up to room. The room was the smallest I have ever encountered door opened and we had the width of doorway as free floor space in the room. To left was wall of en-suite shower room and then double bed which was accessed from one side only. No spaces for cases or standing for 2x people together! I cannot believe that this is acceptable for fire safety. No aircon and metal framed casement window bar (use for holding window ajar) was broken, so window was either shut or wide open and could flap around in wind. As it was 25C it had to remain open all night.

Absolutely Terrible

Liked: Absolutely Nothing
Disliked: The breakfast offerings was substandard with no variety of cooked breakfast, the hotel was a building site with renovation work starting at 8.30am with unbearable noise regarding drilling and hammering.the narrow passageways were blocked by large sheets of plasterboard with 10 bags of plaster with workman tools scattered in the passageways, the lift was out of action. you could not relax in your room duet to the noise that was being made I made a formal complain to the manager and confirmed that complaint by giving him personally a written letter of complaint demanding a full refund as I booked direct using their website where no information was provided about the renovation work though full fees were being charged. I am a member of the consumer association (which) and I will be forwarding my experiences to them and asking their legal team for advice and also trading standardsYour company advertises this hotel on your website as three star which is a joke I will also be reporting your company to consumer association (which) and trading standards. The entire experience was incredibly disappointing and not at all what I expected from a three-star hotel. I trust that you will take my complaint seriously and address these issues promptly.

Disliked: The Hotel was a building site with renovation work taking place you could not relax in your room after 8.30 ,there was building materials like plaster board bags of plaster working tools on the floor and in the gangways , the lift was out of service so you had to use the stairs, the breakfast was inadequate with limited variety if you got there after 8.30 there was no option for cooked breakfast there was no mention on their website of building work being carried out, this is not a 3star hotel as you advertise and I will be reporting my experience to trading standards and the consumers association WHICH that I am a member of.
