Good

Liked: Good location, comfortable bed. Bathroom was nice and high ceilings were great
Disliked: The room was very dark - window looked into the bottom of an internal courtyard and was mostly blocked by an AC unit. AC unit was also very loud but worked well - but only in the room, the bathroom got very warm overnight. The rooms are small as described but nowhere to really put a larger suitcase - it could almost go under the bed but not quite

Fair hotel in great location,...

Liked: Location! 5 minutes to Empire state, 3 different subway lines, lots of great eateries. Room! Wonderful bathroom - really good facilities. Soundproof - we could not hear anyone inside (outside was a little noisy, but hey, it's NYC. Very clean sheets and towels. Staff - very helpful, always with a smile.Additionally, there are good check-in arrangements, there is always space to leave a car to load/unload; there is a restaurant and a bar on-site, these get noisy in the evening, but remember- great soundproof, we didn't hear them at all from our 4th floor room.I also loved how the hotel preserved the Life magazine heritage, as it's the former offices of the magazine.
Disliked: It's a little annoying that we had to ask for amenities (kettle, microwave, slippers even). I understand why, and they had it all, but "oh, it looks like we need slippers, let's ask for them and then wait for them".It's very clean in obvious places, but not everywhere. There was dust and chips crumbs under our bed and dirt in the bathroom corners, and the sofa bed had suspicious stains. But once again, the rest was sparkling.And then there's the size of the room and bathroom, which is considerably smaller than everywhere, but I know it's normal for NYC, so not complaining, just a thing to know.
