Areas for Improvement

Rooms are on the smaller side and could benefit from a refresh in décor. Some guests mention creaky floors or dated bathrooms, but most found it clean and adequate for a short stay. No elevator could be tricky with large luggage, so pack light if possible!

Awful

Liked: It was in close proximity to Hyde Park
Disliked: The curtains weren’t attached to the curtain rail, so made them impossible to close, when complained, was told the maintenance man had left for the day. When returned at night the receptionist laughed at us and told us there was nothing he could do,Found this completely unacceptable for a room that cost over two hundred pound a night, complained when we left a different receptionist told us the problem we would be fixed once we left, and there was nothing they could do. The paper was falling off the walls in the room, stains on carpet, wall was patched up where they’re had been holes in the wall, big crack in one of the window panes, the wood on the windows was rotten.

Convenient but not great. Don’t...

Liked: Good location to where I was working and local amenities / food options
Disliked: I was disappointed with the £40 charged each night to park overnight in one of the spaces allocated to the hotel. I explained that I was literally parking overnight as each morning I’d be up early and away with my car but the member of staff wasn’t interested, just kept referring me to the manager who wasn’t there. I paid for the first night and protested on the 2nd night. As a paying hotel guest it’s a bit much to charge £80 to park. Could’ve had another room for that. Eventually the manager agreed to charge £20 for the 2nd night. However £65 for 2 overnight stays (on top of the cost of the room) made it a pretty pricey stay. Rooms were a bit dated and tatty and needed some tlc.

I would not recommend this...

Disliked: The staff at the reception was friendly but they were not able to respond to questions related to unexpected costs or other facilities. The deposit of 100 GBP was very unexpected. There is no mention of it on the Booking.com page. Several clients at the reception complained of this charge. You don’t receive the key to the room if you don’t pay this, which is a bit annoying because the price for the room was paid. You are not given a list or explained what is considered damage so the deposit can easily be upheld and not refunded at the check-out.Dirty carpets and unpleasant smell. The level of cleanliness and hygiene feels very low generally.

Appreciated friendly staff.

Liked: Very nice friendly helpful staff
Disliked: Room 16, in the stairway, included shower but not WC. Expected to share both bathroom facilities. Actually worked better than expected, order guests must have been quiet.
